despite being so goth that the sun hides in a coffin when I awake (my Bauhaus poster features real blood spatters), I am forced to admit that I only got info Death in June recently. this is thanks to a Pandora playlist featuring Current 93 (who I only got into after a gnetelle desth sound_3 mix).
I'll definitely need to check this (new to me) reissue out. |

Les Rallizes Denudes
Mars Studio 1980 Phoenix Records ASHBOX-3 4xCD Box Set £36.99 Another massively potent archival round-up from Phoenix, this time reissuing one of the most sought-after of the original Univive sets, Mars Studio 1980. Probably the best loved of the Rallizes studio recordings, this set catches the group at an insane twin guitar peak with the addition of second guitarist Fujio Yamaguchi pushing the music out into a weird distended psychedelic blues zone. This beautifully assembled box features four discs of fully re-mastered studio recordings, jams, out-takes and instrumentals from an extended 1980 album session. The tracks are dominated by a clean, bluesy VU feel that’s somewhere between “Ride Into The Sun” and Dylan’s Basement Tapes, with lazy, off the cuff run-throughs, studio banter and radically different stylings of key material, with a particularly notable version of “Enter The Mirror” that features keyboard work that is almost a duck for Al Kooper’s playing on Blonde On Blonde. Also features some spectacular free improvised jams and a buncha material not heard anywhere else, all in sparkling studio fidelity. Accompanying the studio work is a fantastic live show from the Yamaguchi era, recorded on September 11th 1980 at the Yaneura club in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, previously issued as Double Heads September though not included on the Double Heads set. Mars Studio 1980 stands out amongst the plethora of Rallizes releases as a rare complete studio date that sees the group experimenting with a sound that really has few parallels even in their own back catalogue. Numbered edition of 1000 copies with new liner notes. Very highly recommended! *Ships on Wednesday* http://www.volcanictongue.com/tips |

ST-LP 006 : METAL URBAIN - Les Hommes Morts Sont Dangereux VINYL LP + CD
Hi everyone, Seventeen Records is back, after a couple of years of silence. The reason we've been dormant, you all know it : the record industry have changed. Tons of labels and distributors have ceased to exist, and music sellers are closing doors left and right. It's now nearly impossible to reissue a cult CD in today's "official" distribution market, and expect to recoup production costs with 30 sales on the month of release, as is the case right now. At the same time, vinyl is back, big time. At Seventeen, we always loved vinyl. You all know it, if you bought our Metal Urbain, Guilty Razors, or Baader Meinhof Wagen records. Alas, the french market, even with it's great vinyl stores, is too small to recoup productions costs too. It's a new world, and it calls for new solutions. We decided to partner with Ulule http://www.ulule.com/ and let YOU decide the fate of our vinyl records projects. The way it works is simple : you will be charged your order only if the minimum of sales to recoup production costs is achieved, making the release certain. If it's not met, you will not be charged, and the project will be canceled. To test this, and reboot the label, we've gone back to square one. Metal Urbain. The true, 76-78 punk pioneers. A lot of you have asked us to reissue the original Rough Trade release Les Hommes Morts sont Dangereux on vinyl, which been out of print since 2004. You can now help this reissue to exist, by pre-buying it on ulule site here http://fr.ulule.com/metal-urbain/ You can choose between a red vinyl version, or black vinyl version, one coming with the bonus original single, the other not. Both will feature a bonus CD with all the record tracks on it thought, which you can keep, or give to friends. Remember, you will only pay if the sales target is reached. We have other similar projects awaiting to be issued at Seventeen including the MU demos from 1978 LP and the Desperados reissue. They will also be featured on Ulule, so that they can finally exist. For all the people who pre-ordered them, yours still stand, and we will be working with both Hermann Schwartz, Pat Luger and original MU single Clode Panik to make sure you get something extra for these releases. Thanks for you support. Our new email adress is seventeenrecords (at) numericable.fr Mr Seventeen & Six Pi Vicious |

Artists Name: Basho, Robbie Title: The Seal Of The Blue Lotus (180 Gram Vinyl) Format: LP Price: $18.98 (All prices include shipping.) Availability: In Stock Label: 4 MEN WITH BEARDS Originally released on John Fahey’s Takoma Records in 1965, The Seal of the Blue Lotus is the debut album from American guitar soli legend Robbie Basho. In college Basho immersed himself in the study of Asian art and culture, even changing his last name to that of the Japanese poet Matsuo Basho, and his music shows a much greater Eastern influence than contemporaries like John Fahey and Peter Lang. Basho was particularly entranced by the raga form which is apparent in classics like “Dravidian Sunday” from this album. A guitar soli masterwork reissued here on 180 gram vinyl. Tracks: 1. Seal Of The Blue Lotus 2. Mountain Man's Farewell 3. Dravidian Sunday 4. Bardo Blues 5. Sansara In Sweetness After Sandstorm 6. 4M166 - LA DUSSELDORF - "LA DUSSELDORF" LP (4MWB) $18 Upon the breakup of legendary Krautrock duo Neu!, drummer Klaus Dinger formed La Düsseldorf with his brother Thomas and keyboard player Hans Lampe. This, their self-titled debut, was recorded in 1975 and is a staggering mix of Dinger's trademark motorik rhythms, glammy synths, pulsing organs, and urgent guitar work that altogether create a sound that, at times, predates both punk and post-punk, no small feat. Featuring their European hit single "Silver Cloud", La Düsseldorf's debut record is classic Krautrock on par with the best offerings of Neu!, Kraftwerk, and Can. 180 gram vinyl reissue. 1 COPY IN STOCK. 4M167 - LA DUSSELDORF - "VIVA" LP (4MWB) $18 Viva is the second release from Klaus Dinger's post-Neu! Krautrock group. Originally released in 1978, Viva is a stunning combination of washed out synthesizers, swirling guitar work and Dinger's trademark motorik rhythms. Featuring the classic "Cha, Cha 2000", Viva is another fine effort from one of Krautrock's legends and stands as a testament of just how gloriously ahead of their time the German progressive rock scene of the 70s could be. 180 gram vinyl reissue. 1 COPY IN STOCK. |

Monoshock - Walk to the Fire 2LP
S.S. Records is proud to announce the reissue of Monoshock’s Walk to the Fire double album. Long considered a classic by music freaks and much sought after by modern psych nodes, the remastered reissue of Monoshock’s monster has been anticipated for quite some time…and now it is here. Monoshock’s roots lie in Ilsa Vista, a charming student ghetto stuck on California’s Central Coast. It was there that Umbilical Chords, a punk quartet who shot snot on the year 1987, were born. Scrappy and snotty, the Chords were led by guitarist Grady Runyan (who also made a short film on them [see you tube. By 1988 the Chords were gone and Runyan, Scott Derr, and Rubin Fiberglass formed Monoshock taking garage blargh into realms previously occupied by the Stooges, Amon Duul II, Hawkwind, Blue Cheer, and other proponents of punkoid psychedelia or psychedelic punk or just good and loud rock & roll music. Later joined by Aluminum Queen on saxophone and Doug Pearson on all things Doug Pearson, Monoshock recorded three singles (on Womb, Blackjack, and Bag of Hammers) and a now legendary double album called Walk to the Fire (Blackjack). The 1995 release of their magnum opus also coincided with the end of the band. Praised a handful of people at the time, Walk to the Fire didn’t really start getting its due until Julian Cope featured it on his website Head Heritage, bands such as Comets on Fire and the Wooden Shjips started referencing Monoshock as an influence, and S.S. Records assembled a CD anthology of Monoshock’s singles, compilation tracks and demo recordings (2004’s Runnin Ape-like from the Backwards Superman). Since Runnin Ape-like’s release, the band and S.S. have periodically batted around the idea of reissuing Walk to the Fire. In 2011, that talk finally became reality. And, really, why not? Since its release Walk to the Fire has been hailed as a “barbarian classic” by Julian Cope (who also wrote that ”Monoshock was to rock’n’roll what those Miles Davis 1975 wa-everything Japan-release-only double-vinyl monsters (Get Up With It, Agartha, Dark Magus) were to jazz. That is, superfluous to the fucking intellectuals but spiritual carbohydrates for the ones who knew”). It attracted the attention of one Steve Mackay – sax man on the Stooge’s Funhouse – who would later play in Runyan’s post-Monoshock ensemble Liquorball. Mojo magazine featured it as a “Buried Treasure.” Brian Turner of WFMU calls it one of the best records of the era. Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips/Moon Duo) says Walk to the Fire was fundamental in forming his musical tastes/style. And Mitch Cardwell? Well, we know what Mitch Cardwell thinks. The S.S. Records reissue of Walk to the Fire has been lifted from the original tapes by Monoshock’s Scott Derr, digitally remastered by Josh Stevenson, and mastered to vinyl by John Golden. The result is a much better sounding record than the original pressing. Gone are a couple layers of mud, replaced by shimmering guitar, heaviness, and a nice warm sound – well as warm as a tank rolling through your living room. The cover art is as the original, but the reissue includes an insert with liner notes and photos. On July 14, 2012, Monoshock played S.S. Records second festival, SS2, astounding the crowd with a stunning set. In Fall of 2012, they will be included in Julian Cope’s book/3 CD set Compendium. http://s-srecords.com/catalog/index....ucts_ id=1419 |

I'll be the proud owner of that soon, even though it's not an original pressing.
Blackest Ever Black is releasing the first ever vinyl edition of Gareth Williams and Mary Currie's Flaming Tunes. This remarkable album was recorded at DDM and Cold Storage in London after Williams had left This Heat and returned from the first of several trips to India. It was officially released on cassette in 1985, before being bootlegged on CD more than a decade later. The bootleg in question, the Japan-issued After The Heat, described the Flaming Tunes pieces as "This Heat's final demo recordings", much to Gareth's understandable dismay - after all, the album marked a conscious attempt to create a music with a different mood and texture to that of This Heat, one which would allow the full expression of his eclectic and distinctive tastes. In 2009, twenty-four years after the original cassette release and eight after Williams' death, aged 48, from cancer, Life & Living Records - an independent label operated by his close friends - released the first and definitive CD edition of Flaming Tunes. Where possible, L&L went back to the original master tapes to achieve the best possible sound quality. The album - in my view one of the most unique, poignant and poetic ever to emerge from the British underground, its visionary power matched only by its playfulness and intimacy - has never had a life on vinyl. With full authorisation and invaluable assistance from Life & Living Records, B.E.B. has sought to rectify this. The vinyl will have different artwork to the tape and CD; most significantly, the front cover will feature the iconic photo booth portrait of Gareth and Mary. Full details of the edition to follow in the coming weeks. The vinyl master was cut by Matt Colton at Air Studios, London, on April 17, 2012, working directly from the audio as painstakingly restored and assembled for the 2009 CD release. Manufacture of BLACKEST009, an edition of 1000, is now underway and we expect the record to be ready in late July, 2012. A limited number of copies are available to pre-order [now sold out] and will be dispatched on or before the official release date, when all remaining copies will be distributed through the usual stores and channels. Visit http://flamingtunes.com to read more about the album and to listen to clips. Special thanks to Mick Hobbs, Andrew Jacques, Martin Harrison and Mary Currie. Dedicated to the memory of Gareth Williams and Nick Goodall. K.S. 18.04.12 Tracklist: A1. Another Flaming Tune A2. Beguiling The Hours A3. The Best Weapon A4. A To B A5. Breast Stroke A6. Plus Instruments Februari-April ‘81 Poutre Apparente PALP-008 Edition of 500 copies that reissues the original Plus Instruments album released by the Kremlin label in 1981 and featuring a pre-Sonic Youth Lee Ranaldo alongside Truus de Groot and David Linton: Linton and De Groot hooked up at a Rhys Chatham performance in Eindhoven 1980, when Linton was then drumming for him. When the duo moved together to NYC and began jamming along to backing tapes of crude rhythmic synth noise they attracted the attention of Linton’s roommate Ranaldo and so Plus Instruments were born. Listened to now they occupy a weirdo zone somewhere between European Cold Wave (de Groot was from The Netherlands and switches between Dutch and English language vocals), hyper-energetic UK DIY, minimal electronics and avant garage, thanks to Ranaldo’s explosive noise guitar accompaniment. Think Silver Apples by way of the original Manchester Musicians Collective injected with some classic refusenik NY scorch and you’re halfway there. Some of the instrumental passages touch on a more electro-Pere Ubu or Simply Saucer, making for a beautifully confusing historical polyglot. Comes with liners and an insert – recommended! http://www.volcanictongue.com/artists/browse_all/10108 Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRuVp57qBew |
