Yesterday I wrote in my fotolog after watching Korn's unplugged, that I found it to be pretty decent and elaborated in quite an unexpected way.
The newspapers said that MTV was intending to make Korn's unplugged outstand from what Nirvana achieved with their, and I said I believed they had made it. Everyone seemed to freak out. Several persons just said they didn't like it, but there was this one asshole who went: You know nothing about life papapapa Kurt this and Kurt that.

I AM SICK OF SENTIMENTALISM. I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE WON'T JUST LISTEN TO THIS OR THAT FORGETTING WHAT THE NAME OF THE FUCKING BAND IS AND SAY "I THINK IT'S COOL" OR "I THINK THIS IS TOTALLY UNCOOL"
THEY THINK THAT WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THAT SOME BAND'S WORK HAS BEEN OUTSTANDED BY SOME OTHER BAND'S WORK, THEY NEED TO START BLAHBING ABOUT THIS AND THAT IN ORDER NOT TO BETRAY THEIR NUMBER ONE DEAD IDOL.

I DON'T KNOW. I know most of you are all huge Nirvana fans, but I seriously never had expected to watch and listen to Korn sound this way. With all those unusual instruments for a band like that. I believe Nirvana's unplugged was the most normal thing on fucking earth but people got totally crazy about it because Kurt Cobain is dead.

Ok, now you can start yelling.

First Korn cd is okay when I eat off my bike repeatedly and need to feel like a faggot if I don't ride it out. I feel dirty after, though.

Exact-o-ly. Go work in some cabinet warehouse at 3 some morning and when a stragley-goatee-chainsmoker pops in some Korn LOUD - I enjoy it - and push my broom with a bit more gusto, a bit more pride.

Context means so much. Watching Dora or catching bugs by myself isn't great but around my nieces is.

ACDC "Thunderstruck" in my room? Never. Before a hockey game? Yes!

Waking up to Ace of Base is wonderfully hilarious.

Paper napkins? Nope. Linen napkins at fancypants restuarant? Like a fucking pro.

i totally agree about it being normal, but people went crazy for it before he died, the reason people like that is that it's the most easy listening thing nirvana did, it might as well be the eagles or frank sinatra. the moral of this story: most people suck at listening to music.

i heard the reason kurt cobain killed himself was so that idiots would go and weep at his grave.

Yes there is. Too many people will just listen to what they're told to, and dismiss what they're told to, without any thought to forming their own opinion.

korn unplugged=comedy record of the year.

i mean, it's so pretentious with so called "unusual" instruments, but instead of doing good interpretations of their songs, they sound like crappy, soundtrack to ethereal music/dead can dance rip off but so watered down and lame, it's funny, the first song i heard from this crap was freak on a leash with the fat chick from herbalessence or whatever that avril lavigne goth metal band is called, it was hysterical, how serious they tried to appear. plus, there's like only three guys from korn left, they have like a 30 piece band to play this shit and only three are people in the band...and what's with all the animal masks?

i really mean it, it's a fucking comedy record.

and yeah, well i still like their first two albums, i like issues too, last time i heard it like 8 years ago, mind you, but korn and life is peachy are awesome.

and then, they have the retardness to cover radiohead's creep.

re: unplugged standards/nirvana

first of all, the whole concept of unplugged anything was to create a smoother, softer product of grunge bands to sell to older generations as "adult/contemporary," it has little to no artistic merits and most of the time, they suck, the songs sound crappy because most bands who have attempted an unplugged rely too much on distortion and effects, so listening to them acoustically is like listening to a half assed version of a song...seems stupid to me, not that there's bands who have the songs and creativeness to pull it off good, but mostly, no. plus, i fucking hate the word "unplugged."

that nirvana show, yeah it's good, as good as nirvana is, which is just above ok; the best mtv unplugged show i've heard was the cure, they really got into it, played their songs with their original intent and with added instrumentation.

the original intent of "unplugged" was to get METAL bands to do acoustic songs, so they could show what great "songwriters" they were. This was before grunge crap. and you are right, it was to sell the shit to people with pussies for ears.

I laughed hard when Dee Snider was talking about this in VHI's "history of Metal"

he talked abou how the formula developed where a new band would release a rocking song then a ballad an dthat way would maximize their album sales to guys and ladies. then bads started doing unplugged shit (Dee says "Thanks Tesla" sarcastically as fuck) and every metal band released a shitty acoustic guitar ballad. Dee Snider then proceeds to say "What's so metal about that? I mean, come on! Extreme? Posion? Fuck YOu and Fuck You and Fuck You and Fuck You."

I thought that was hilarious!

i dont know about you but the led zeppelin unplugged show from their "no quarter" album (where they borrowed from moroccan music) was a lot of fun, like listening to mad leprechauns on coke. (i liked it).

yes!! !@#$%!, that show is pretty suit, i still have my tape, for some reason, i had to find the import tape because it was printed in cardboard paper instead of glossy paper. that show is sweet indeed.

and it was billed as jimmy page and robert plant because john paul jones was being held hostage by diamanda galas and they didn't find bonzo's number in rock n' roll heaven.

they toured that album and came here, with the egyptian and moroccan players, i missed the tour but actually met the band leader. mr.s page and plant, of course, were too busy being rockstars to talk to the fans.

yes that is often the case. im afraid i didnt listen to korn or have mtv anymore. (do they still play music on mtv? last i checked it was a bunch of retard reality shows to vomit for). my marginal contribution only goes towards the prerequisite argument that some of these shows are actually worth listening (though i agree most aren't).
