so, ive only just got "seadrum/house of sun"...and its amazing! not so much house of sun, but seadrum is one of my favourite pieces of music i have on record! everythign about it is so intense and primal, like some postapocalyptic dance music. i know they have quite a confusing catalog...what would be a good place to start with their other records if i wanted more in this vein?

I recommend everything that Boredoms have ever released. Yes, everything. But if you're looking for something in the same vein, check out 'Vision Creation Newsun,' 'Super AE,' ''Super Roots 8,' and 'Rebore Vol. 0' (and the following volumes.)
But after that check out all of their other albums as well, which are drastically different but equally as good. |

How is "Pop Tatari" quality-wise compared to other Boredoms releases?
It's the only CD I've heard and it's truly great!

Pop-Tatari isn't near as good as Super Ae, Seadrum/House of Sun, or Vision Creation Newsun.
Vision Creation Newsun is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

If you like Seadrum then Super Ae and Vision Creation Newsun would be good choices me thinks... and my two favourite albums by them as well.
Oh, and Thurston..... please please pleaaaaaaaaaase invite them for ATP. Pretty please? The closest they're playing this euro tour for me is Berlin... which is about 800km away. |

this is how they recorded seadrum, yoshimi:“We set up our drums kits on wooden boards in the sand, and we didn’t stop playing until the tide came in and the drums started getting wet. Then we submerged a mic in the water to record the sound of the drums under the sea. We set up so many mics—there’s no way we could ever listen to all the tracks. But we ended up using the essence of that recording in “Seadrum.” Seadrum is my favorite boredoms song too, and Vision creation newsun is probaly one the greatest albums of all time! check out julian cope's review of it http://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung...ofthemonth/435

i agree that everything they have done is genius
so my advise in your purchases is to go backwards. you've started with seadrum/house of sun, then get vision creation newsun (one of the best albums ever recorded), then get super ae, then chocolate synthetizer, then wow2, then pop tatari, then soul discharge, then onanie bomb. then get the super roots and rebore series and find the big hard to find eps and stuff and you'll get to understand the big picture |

Dude, POP TATARI is a fucking masterpiece. It is the most insane rock record I've ever heard. It is alternately terrifying and hilarious. At first listen, it sounds like a bunch of people trying to scare each other and just goofing around, but after a few spins EVERYTHING CLICKS. It's avant-garde noise rock that's also FUN!
