Who are the latest guys that were the epitome of rock and roll?
When you think rock virtuosos certain names leap to mind (whether you agree or not) Guys like Hendrix, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Eric Clapton, Rick Wakeman, Jack Bruce, Jimmy Page - hell...it's like the rock gods are all fading away.

I don't think I could call them rock gods - as much as I love Sonic Youth.
For some reason I don't put them into that pantheon. Perhaps because I've only seen them in little venues and have always found them totally approachable and down to Earth - not bigger than life.

Don't you have to die to become a rock god? Have you ever heard anyone get praise comparable to Hendrix or Morrison who's alive? Let's see Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Chuck Berry. I swear I haden't heard Elliot Smith praised until he died, until then he was just another musican in a long list of musicans playing tortured love songs. Just you wait and see when the singer of Counting Crows dies everyone will say he was amazing.

I guess there aren't any then. I almost think this is better, though. Rock musicians shouldn't be gods.
