Hi everybody.
(forgive me if a thread has already been made, search will not work for me) Anybody ever check out any movies by Troma? I'm sure some of you have. They've put out some great stuff. Some truly great b-horror/comedies. All of which are ALWAYS filled with some great tasteless nudity and always gore. They are one of the longest running independent film companies. and their president Lloyd Kaufman is a genius. and he is one of my heroes. If you haven't seen Toxic Avenger you should watch that shit! Also: Class of Nuke Em High, Decampitated, Poultrygeist: Night of The Chicken Dead, The First Turn-On, Squeeze Play, Sgt Kabukiman NYPD and many many many others Also: I've been reading this book: and it is brilliant. http://troma.com/ (for those who dont know) (hope everybody is doing well. long time no see. it's good to be here) |

I just wanna let you know that it put fuzzies in my groin to see so many Troma Entertainment threads, all with "thumbs up" symbols right next to them.
Lloyd is indeed a highly inspirational figure, despite Troma's recent struggles. I hope they pull through, I really do. They have a Hulu channel now... http://www.hulu.com/studio/troma (for those in the US) |

What did you guys think of Poultrygeist?
I personally could've done with a few less musical numbers, but thought it was a laugh riot throughout. |

I haven't seen a new Troma film since probably TERROR FIRMER (which I loved). Or wait. CITIZEN TOXI. Which I loved. But those were the last new Troma's I kept up with.

nah, I feel I kind of outgrew Troma. Like the ones I saw when I was younger have a sort of nostalgic quality to me. But all in all, if I were to see those films for the first time today I probably wouldn;t like them. Its like I just overdid it with Troma in my teens/early 20's.

I used to feel the same way about ICP. Now I'm a bigger fan than ever. You never know man...I thought you liked cheesy horror flicks?

I do like cheesy horror flicks. I prefer older ones though. A lot of new Troma is digital, and I really hate the way digital looks for one. But honestly, the bulk of my horror watching is 80's and 90's. Then the occassional new film peaks my interest, though usually cuz its a throwback (Cabin Fever, House of 1k, House Of the Devil, etc)>

Well, all I'm saying is that I highly doubt that you'd be disappointed with Poultrygeist. It's up to you if you wanna seek it out or not. You and I seem to have similar sensibilities when it comes to these things.

I agree... we do actually. I think you and I tend to agree on movies more than music in fact. I go thru phases though, so right now I havent been in the mood for low budget horror, but at some point it'll be all I feel like watching again. "we move in circles babe"

I've been into Troma for 10 years. Have had dinner with Lloyd. One of the coolest dudes ever, always hooking me up with free movies and shit. Anyway, the best Troma stuff (I bolded my favs)...
All the Love You Cannes! Baconhead Bloodsucking Freaks Combat Shock Cry Uncle Drawing Blood Fatty Drives the Bus (probably the best movie on Troma imo) Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters Jefftowne Killer Condom KILLER NERD!/Bride of Killer Nerd Maniac Nurses Find Ecstasy Nightmare Weekend Period Piece Stendhal Syndrome Story of a Junkie Student Bodies Sucker: The Vampire Surf Nazis Must Die SUPERSTARLET A.D. (One of the best films ever) Touch Me in the Morning Trailer Town Unspeakable Viewer Discretion Advised Wedding Party When Nature Calls Also worth a look: Action Maximus (so insane!) Banana Monster Chopper Chicks in Zombietown Dumpster BAby Evil Clutch Fat Guy Goes Nutzoid Frightmare Frostbiter Graduation Day The Hall Monitor Igor and the Lunatics Lloyd's films (but especially Combat Shock) Meat for Satan's Icebox Meat Weed Madness Monster in the Closet Mother's Day New Gladiators Pot Zombies Rockabilly Vampire Scream Baby Scream Screamplay Strangest Dreams Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator Tainted Tomcat Angels Vegas in Space Viral Assassins AVOID: Decampitated (you really reccomend this, FN? I remember getting this for a dollar at a pawn shop and feeling like I got ripped off! Luckily I bought KICHIKU DAI ENKAI at the same pawn shop on the same day, and that movie is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!) Dr. Hackenstein G.I. Executioner I Was a Teenage TV Terrorist Luther the Geek Mad Dog Morgan Mirror of Death Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell Parts of the Family Pigs Plutonium Baby Pterodactyl Women From Beverly Hills Suicide Tales from the Crapper All the rest that I've seen are probably just not worth noting, though that list represents most of what I've seen; I know I didn't list a few, like Cannibal the Musical. That's because I don't really reccomend it, but a lot of people seem to like it, even though it's way too long... ...As for Poultreygeist, not bad. More of the same and obviously just a big tribute to Happiness of the Katakuris. One time, I bought 30 Troma VHS's from their website, they were all like a dollar each, and they threw in tons of free stuff. My favorite Troma movies are definitely the Giuseppe stuff, obviously. |

Decampitated was shit! I don't like Killer Weekend though, and you rated that really high. I haven't seen as many as you, but I"ve seen a huge bulk of them. Probably 30 or so anyway. Blood Sucking Freaks is definitely a favorite of mine. I prefer it over Wizard Of Gore even. I mean Ralphus!

What's Killer Weekend? If you mean Nightmare Weekend, that movie is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! A PAIR OF PANTIES KILLS A DUDE! The whole movie a puppet with a computer sending metal balls to enter people's mouths to make them explode! People turn into "zombies", which is just hte people with shitty green facepaint on, oh and the sex scene in the bar on a pinball machine in front of tons of people who don't say anything. Just so bizarre and surreal, loved it.
