Howdy y'all.. I swiped this set list off the internet and somehow ended up saving it as 'sy081385.jpg' - my problem is, there is no 08/13/85 show in the chronology. It's clearly an August '85 set list (and how cool is that?) but I want to know the correct date/venue for it... I think I may have found the link here, to some dude's, uh, 'blog'...? Where he collected set lists? Hopefully someone recalls as I don't think I bookmarked it...

Strange. This is the information I have from http://www.flickr.com/photos/gibcurry/2219667134/:
Sonic Youth set list 8/13/85 This show was at the VFW hall band line-up: Sonic Youth Stickdog Killdozer (pretty sure) there was a fourth band... I can't remember who they were. I know the date of the show because the flip side of this set list is the fourth bands set list and they happened to write the date on the list. On a slightly unrelated note, have you seen this, Chris? http://malarky.udel.edu/~keith/bands/sonicyouth.htm |

you are just unbelieveably useful! thank you thank you thank you. thank you!
hey! i was just looking at keith's site, cuz i'm updating the concert chronology and finally felt like compromising his copyright by at least stealing those supercool handwritten set lists and linking to his page for the remainder of his tale + photos, which i always have anyway... hopefully he won't mind, if he finds out................... i have a couple things to smooth out but i just processed a shitload of images that have been sitting on my computer for way too long, and pretty much have the CC up to date + hope to have it online soon...

Wow, so cool to see that set list. That's incredibly close to the summer '85 show I saw a Gorilla Gardens in Seattle (which you originally added to the chronology from my contacting you a few years ago!)
Except they didn't play the Kill Your Idols and Confusion stuff in Seattle, and they played more of Bad Moon (I'm almost certain they played the first side of the album straight through and all of the second except for "Justice is Might", which at the time I wondered why they cut out, they did do "I'm Insane" for sure). The last song was "Expressway" though. I wonder what "Cat" is?? That could be the mystery song that Lee sang (well, spoke) that they said he'd written the night before! (Assuming they did it at more than one gig). |

hey Chris L,
on a different topic, quite a while ago I sent you an email with a recap of what happened at SY's show in Cagliari ITALY 2002, did you ever get that email, want me to send it back? Eventually, lemme know! |

that's nice set list. Chris, here's pic of Prague (08-25-07) set list. you might use it when updating archives. also I've noticed that set list in archives is missing Teenage Riot, but they played it.

At first I was thinking "Cat" was "Mom I Gave My Cat Some Acid," but that was '87. God, I love that song.

Thanks for that! Anybody got an MP3 of that track isolated? I'm going to have to listen to the Bang Zoom zine through and try to spot it. |

In case you're not actually being ironic, I'm sure it was "Burning Spear". |

no irony -- my brain was offline and I totally forgot about "Burning Spear". haha, I was so excited to see unusual setlist with "Satan is Boring" followed by "Expressway", damn.
