i have seen Stalker, which is prob the best sci fi film ever. in running for best film ever aswell. i got a dvd of his last film, Nostalghia which I haven't watched yet.
There's also Andrei Rublev, Mirror and Solaris - has anyone seen any of these three? |

Mirror is incredible, and so is Rublev, though one's gotta be in the mood for the latter. It's certainly an epic, and the prologue is one of the greatest things ever filmed, in my opinion. Anyway, Tarkovsky is a true master and you can't go wrong with him. Check out this sequence shot from Mirror. Fuck.

I have seen Mirror some time ago now (a really cool art teacher leant it to me when I was studying surrealism) and loved it, I had very little idea what the hell was going on, but it was an achingly beautiful thing to watch- And that scene was one of the best.

Okay, that is an incredible shot you're right racehorse, but this is my favourite scene here. Check out between 3.30-5.00mins for the the most beautiful series of images I've ever come across.

i think you meant TARkovsky. fuck yeah, solaris, amazing, ive seen it about 3 times already, and i haven't seen the others except his student film the steamroller & the violin-- cute, not a masterpiece, but you have some inklings of what was going to happen later in terms of cinematography. anyway, congrats, this guy was truly awesome, and i hope you never recover, i haven't. |
