M. Cafe in the Vista area of Columbia, SC, has knock-out Long Island Iced Teas.
About the only good thing this damned state has going for it.

I used to like a bar called Busters. They had some pool tables and black walls with chalk grafiti written by everyone. Great jukebox for a downtown bar. Overall cool vibe and they occasionally hosted some punk/noise groups. I used to like this place because it used to exist, it is now no longer there.

Iowa City had bar like that called Deadwood where they never covered over the graffiti in the bathroom stalls. And Iowa City being home to the Writers Workshop, you could find some amazing stuff written there, I kid you not!

Oh, I know, but we all nevertheless seem to have time to answer SuchFriend's pathetic topics and talk about our favorite Tv shows and movies. All I'm asking for is a little respect.

Cool. The graff at this place was not so much actual graffiti as just people writing their real names and things of that nature. Granted the actual graff writers in the city were also well represented in the bathroom, at least til someone else wrote over them. But yeah, a cool place to hang out talk, shoot pool and drink beer. Matter of fact one thing I really liked was that they only served beer in the bottle. |

Thing I like about M. Vista is that it has pretentions to be this sophisticated little after-work bar with sushi and delicate Japanese fare. But the staff is dumb as sticks, and you can also sit there and giggle at the silly suits who come in to get sophisticatedly sloshed on their martinis before heading home for the wife.

I used to go to Mona's on the lower East Side a lot. Went there last year, seemed like it hadn't changed much.

I'm not a fan of the ''hip,young/hip,old professional'' type of bar. usually the prices are high and the atmosphere is dull. I really prefer sitting around my table with friends and what-not, but when I/Wifey are out, we'll try to find a place thats balanced between dive-bar and strip club. |

Yeah, I have to admit, it's not my favorite bar ever, but they make damned strong Iced Teas, a rarity in the "yuppie" bar scene. I go there because my wife has really hot work associates who like to go there, and it's rather pleasant to sit there and sip a Long Island and flirt with these lovely things.

I have never been a drinker, what wityh my alcohol allergy and shit, and due to that, I FUCKING HATE BARS. the single most boring useless place to me in the world besides casinos.
everyone is drinking, talking too loud, taling mad nonsnese, and it gets ridiculously old after about 45 minutes. That's all I can do. Unless there is a rock show a bar is pointless to me. It is like shelling out money constantly just to be miserable.

Yeah, but how are ya gonna pretend to be James Bond if you can't get sloshed over a mixed drink in a bar while flirting with hot women you can only imagine in your wildest dreams going to bed with? Huh? I ask you.

Well, you can't be James Bond. James Bond isn't real, now take a deep breath and listen for your heart-beat.
Haha, honestly I know a guy who is totally obsessed with James Bond, being, acting, watching, looking like James Bond. Its one of the creepiest hetero-crushes I've beheld. |

Um. do you know me, then?
Fuck. yeah. Hetero crush. I'm sorry, I admit it. But my dad always told me it was good to have heroes. Hey, at least I'm not trying to be Eva Greene. That would be a problem.

Yeah, well at least you respect records and listen to decent music. This guy I know wears tight-light washed denim jeans froim circa 88' and has his hair in a pony-tail. And trust me, in NO way does it ever look cool.

Hmm. How is wearing light jeans and your hair in a pony tail in the least like Bond?! The poor guy really is delusional, isn't he!

I don't want to say The Killers are going in the wrong direction, but their third album made their second album sound like a cross between "Born in the USA" and "Nevermind" ... and I'm currently using the second album's CD as a coaster for ginger ale. - Bill Simmons - ESPN.com

Busters doesn't exist anymore? We just played a show there last year hosted by the dudes at the void skateshop and from Tight Leather. It was really fun, they had pizza too. |
