With his own strange dedicated fanbase and a new solo record dropping tomorrow his fans will have plenty to argue and fight about on the internet for the rest of the year. There's fans that only want him to do the lo-fi early sebadoh stuff, others that want the clean bright shine of bakesale and a few who want him to experiment more with samples ala the folk implosion.
Well for all those wanted that shut up! that would be looking back and retreating which is something an artist should never do. This new record is good though played with a plugged in band and filled with noisy rockers, catchy melodies and skeletal thoughtful, romantic songs. Its the lou that cant be properly expressed over a searing Mascis solo. You've found youre new night time record here ! http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...ryId=113039797
