Well, not quite. Here's what they actually said:
For Weekend 2 of ATP 2007, we have cooked up something a little bit special for you. All Tomorrow's Parties would like to announce ATP vs The Fans. ATP will be curating half the line-up and the rest of the line-up is up to you, The Fans. Each person who buys a ticket to the festival will be asked to submit their top ten wish-list of who they would like to see at ATP. To get the ball rolling, here are some of the bands ATP have confirmed to play the weekend so far: Built To Spill, Sparklehorse, Death Vessel, Brightblack Morninglight, The Notwist, Do Make Say Think, Akron Family and Echo and the Bunnymen. The event will take place on May 18th - 20th at Butlins Holiday Resort, Minehead. Here's how it works: When you buy your tickets, you will be given details of a website. The person who actually buys the tickets will log into a page where they will be able to email out voting forms to each person in their apartment. Each person then needs to use that form to submit their top ten bands. Each week, the received votes will be tallied and listed on www.atpfestival.com in order of popularity. ATP will then start asking bands from the top of the list, down. Please note that this means the earlier you vote the more your vote will mean.... Some things to keep in mind: The resort has a capacity of less than 6000. Please bear this in mind when making your choices. You can ask for someone like Bob Dylan or The Rolling Stones but they will inevitably be considerably more expensive than the whole line-up put together, thus wasting one of your choices. We are unable to raise the dead. Just because a band is at the top of the list does not mean they will play. They have to be available and have to want to do it. If you put a band that is taking a hiatus or has broken up several years ago, please consider that you might be wasting a vote. You might not be, so you are welcome to take a chance, but an artist has to want to play. You cannot vote for the same band twice. You cannot vote twice. If you are the one that has bought the apartment and you feel you have a right to then take all the votes, please bear in mind you will have to share your weekend with people who did not get a chance to vote because of you. Any attempt to manipulate the voting system will be taken very seriously by ATP and could lead to your votes being disqualified. Play fair. Choose wisely. |

its likely to be all the same kinda bands again.
all the pople that love atp have alot in common. we all go to see the same kinda bands again and again, so the people who are gonna be up for this are probly gonna vote for the same stuff again. sounds to me like the organisers are a bit low on ideas. this sounded like a good idea at first, but then after a while it began to sound worse. they should hold a lottery at the next atp and the winnercan curate. if they are worried about the winner having a difficult list, find someway of having 3 people win with a list they already submitted. they can then choose the most likely looking list from the three and one lucky fucker will get to curate atp. id love to curate atp, it would be like a dream come true. but not they way theyre proposing. it sounds like a way to make sure they sell alot of tickets for a show without a big name curator. |

I'm putting a tenner on that everyone votes for Radiohead. I would like to start the 'Fushitsusha to headline ATP' petition here and now.

Or very, very safe from the organiser's point of view... which is odd, I thought that ATP had sold out every year, you would've thought that in spite of the more 'esoteric' nature of the line-ups (especially the forthcoming one) it's been very profitable for those concerned.

well, those of you guys on the old board probably remember me and barry(ATP) having a trans-continental email war. in the end, i apologized & he did to, sending me a couple hundred dollars worth of ATP CDs.
i suggested to him about getting DEERHOOF on ATP(at the time, they weren't on the lineup), and after the rescheduling was done, DEERHOOF were on the ATP Queen Mary list. i kinda think i might have helped deerhoof get on ATP that year cuz they didn't even contact them when i suggested it. but, i'll never know for sure. Barry was a super cool dude and i do wish the best for him. |

Off topic, but I didn't know Sparklehorse was doing ATP.
All of you who possess tickets should anticipate your potential execution. There are loads of bands I'd like to see at ATP, but I've been waiting for ages for a Mark Linkous appearance. |

Consider this: you now have two pieces of heart to share instead of just one.
