ZENI GEVA "FREEDOM BONDAGE" 1995, Alternative Tenacles Ridiculously heavy, pounding noise metal produced by Steve Albini. Mixing subtle prog and art rock influences, the songs have some of the weirdest time-changes-out-of-nowhere that I've ever heard in a band like this. Also, it's worth noting that I don't think there's a bass to be heard on this album, but the guitars are tuned so low you probably won't be able to tell. Subtle acoustic and keyboard riffs fill the space. Amazing drums. Brilliant guttural screams from KK Null. An album that's hard to wear out; endlessly interesting, diverse, and inspiring... in my mind, a very important record in the field of heavy music. |

yes, dude, i actually get excited about your new classic records, cause i love pretty much everyone youve mentioned so far. this is my third favorite zeni geva record, behind 'desire for agony' and 'total castration'. i like how kk has maintained that zeni geva is a rock band, albeit a noisy and wierd as hell rock band, and uses his solo shit and collabs for his more straight expeditions into power electronics and no wave. have you heard his collab with keiji, 'mamono'? its fucking awesome.

Yeah, "Mamono" is crazy.
I actually might like the songs on "Total Castration" a bit more but I gave this one the edge because the production is so fucking powerful. |

fuck yeah, one of the best bands ever.
i haven't heard this one but desire for agony, the vast importanz ep, maximum money monster and their collab with albini are all ace. some of kk null's solo shit is pretty spacey too, which is cool. |
