Sun Ra documentay last night

There was a documentary on BBC2 last night (this is old news) called "Sun Ra: Brother from Another Planet",which had a couple of comments by Thrusting Moron.
I never knew anything about Sun Ra before watching the thing, I only watched it cus he's mentioned in Trilogy from DN, but he seems legendarily unusual in his approach to music making.

It was a cool doumentay, and Thurston spoke about Sun Ra grabbing Thurston's shoulders in the middle of a show and saying 'Play the Cosmos Song'. Anybody else see it, or have any thoughts/fantasies regarding Sun Ra?

I'm annoyed I didn't see it. No-one told me it was on. Sun Ra is ace though. Mental as a box of frogs, but ace nontheless.

We watched a few clips of "Space is the Place" in my black studies class last year. Pretty interesting guy. Still not very familiar with his music though. But I guess I should check some of it out. Anyone know where I should start?

I watched it on google video a while ago. I really like the stuff he did with June Tyson in the Arkestra.
