I'm just curious - is it BRAIN-kuh or BRAWN-kuh or something else?

Whichever pronounciation is most dissonant.

I've always pronounced it Bran-ka. Dunno if it's right though.

Think I read somewhere that it's more like 'Brohn-ka'. I've always said 'Bran-ka' though.

I say it like brahn-kah, but everyone else I've listened to in interviews says it like brain-kah.

I don't know, but I smoked cigarettes with him at the Pyramid Arts Center in Rochester, NY before a performance of Symphonies 8 & 10. I don't think I've ever been that shaken up by music before or since. Whoa. What sound! He 'tuned' the amps and had a grad student from Eastman School conduct.
