Has anyone heard it/got a copy yet??
HOOOLY FUCKKCKDGVNDFJDV I cannot even word how amazing it is. One of Xiu Xiu's best yet, it's been in my various music-media-players endlessly since I picked it up on the 19. Apparently, it's not out until the 29??? But I asked the guy that owns the store when it was coming it, and he was like, "should have it on the 19"... I was like, 'uh-fuck-uh-yesss". And yeah... Thoughts? My only complaint is that they never ever ever play all ages shows anywhere, at least nowhere I can go... (ie. Canada)... That seriously breaks my heart... they are one of the very few bands that are still around that no one can hold a candle to.

We already have a thread for this! It says "HAYDEN - Women As Lovers on myspace!". I already posted my opinions there so I'll keep this short.
Listened to it 4 times. Boring. Overlong. Inconsistent songwriting. Almost no sparse, lonely, melancholic, beautiful moments -- the things I listen to Xiu Xiu for. Worst thing Xiu Xiu has ever done by far. Tracks 3, 7, 8, and the last one have some good moments. They could've trimmed the fat and made a really great EP. I'll consider this a "transitional" record and hope the next one is better. Very disappointing. One of my favorite bands as well. Just my opinion, though. If you love it, cool! I can't imagine it blowing anyone's mind, but okay. |
