I have a yearning to hear some spacerock with a dub influence - kinda like Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun mixed by Lee Perry. Anyone know any?

I immediately thought of Jennifer off of Faust IV. Otherwise, I'm at a bit of a loss.

What about dub with some spacerock influence? It'll probably sound very psychedelic-ish... Sort of like the flaming lips meets massive attack meets wilco meets sonic nurse-era sonic youth. Very interesting...

Trust me on this!
You are yearning to hear the band Fuckwolf. http://www.myspace.com/fckwolf http://www.angelfire.com/creep/f_ckwolf That's two thirds of the band Curse of the Birthmark. Those basslines can burrow a new BART tunnel under the Bay!

I finally got round to checking Fuckwolf out. They're not quite what I was looking for, but I like them anyway.
If anyone else has any suggestions, I'm still looking... |

I have a double LP by an outfit called Divine Soma Experience that is exactly in this realm, but I also don't remember it being all that amazing. It wasn't bad either, but it didn't blow my mind.
Have you takn a listen to any of that Twilight Circus Dub Sound System stuff that is done by Ryan Moore (former bassist/drummer for Legendary Pink Dots)? I think a lot of that is very fine stuff in its way. |

Hey, I thought of one!
Terminal Cheesecake! Exactly what you are talking about. Their earlier records are more in the vein of Ramleh or something like that, but they made a couple of LPs in the early or mid 90s that are precisely what you are talking about. These are the two to look for: Gateau Déspace King Of All Spaceheads The former is better to my ears, with the latter basically being "heavier" remixes of most of the tunes on the first with some extra tracks added. They have the same cover art, but with different color schemes. I might give these a listen today. It has been a very long time. |
