i made this article, which is more like an essay, about kim; the first paragraph i used for it got rejected like a million times, it originally said that most female bass players were important but minor players in the bands they were but that kim actually is the more visual member of the band and one of it's most important members.
the rest of the article deals with kim's presence in sy, her inspirations in art and music, her experimental nature, her impact as being crucial in the band's adoption of lowbrow/high brow art into sy's music, her influence on female artists of all strains and her liberation of artists to pursue other projects in the same or other disciplines. but i need an intro, i need this done by now. please, give me ideas. |

Then state that in the history of feminism, narrowmindedness has always been common and that there have been many who fought to fight oppression and narrowmindedness, but none of them have ever quite been so cool, hip or culturally in tune as Ms. Kim Gordon.

that's cool, but i tried to avoid sexism on the article.
the fact is, you get into feminism and you start messing with a lot of controversy (especially being a man) and, also, the other subject matters were given the "sex goddess" treatment by the other journalists and i hate that, to be honest. |

Then you could mention in rock there are not many female iconic figures, or role models for girls to look up to in rock music, Sure, there's Bjork or Lindsay Lohan, but they don't rock. Then, Bam! Here Comes Empress Kim Gordon... Of course, I don't think you should write Bam...

I dunno why but this thread just reminded me how this past weekend i scored a copy of an issue of Artforum January 1983, that includes an article called "i'm really scared when i kill in my dreams" written by Kim, detailing the nyc no-wave music scene and the brief but detailed experience of a live PIL show that practically turned into a riot (i actually have a friend who attended that show) the article has cool photos of Branca. if i can get it scanned i'll try to post it.

i mentioned kim's articles in artform and such but that version got rejected.
would love to see the scans. alyassa: i can't use your idea as two of the other subject matters are patti smith and pj harvey. |

Write about her ideas from early on, to now. How they have changed, or progressed into different areas. Music, Film, Art. But I think you already did this with your body.

i did that for my first version, mentioned most of her bands, her expositions, her acting, clothes designs, etc. and my editor told me it looked like i ripped it off from wikipedia. Quote:
