I was watching a White Stripes doc last night and noticed that the keys in Icky Thump seem to be influenced by Sun Ra..
Yes/No?

their version of jolene is pretty good
that one other also rocked in a pop sort of way, when they came out... it was better to hear than in a bar than, say, the dandy warhols now they sound horrible, like some mike patton project mr bungle, eat a bag of dikkks |

And? KoRn are unique. KoRn are talented. KoRn are interesting... I've never personally met anyone who is passionate about the Stripes. You'll hear people go, "Oh, I like them".. you know, whatever, but I've NEVER heard anyone in my life really get into them... they're just shit. As for their Beefheart covers, they're fucking terrible. Insulting, even. |

sun ra is not overrated. he's earned his god status in the avant-jazz scene but will be underrated overall until the jazz mainstream recognizes that he,along with many of his sidemen could play traditional jazz very well, it's an easy thing to aknowledge when there's hours and hours of recorded evidence.
we are currently on the site of a band who has released less good music and more crap than sun ra, and has acheived alot more accolades. if they put sun ra on the dollar bill he'll be slightly overrated |

For some reason I thought that there might have been a Detroit period in his musical life@#??
