Post pics of your rare vinyls & cd's - rareties

let's see some of the goodies we have. don't just paste links, get the camera phone going, in all its grainy glory :D

warning, some serious metal coming up!

my Soundgardens are probably my most treasured. especially the "Fopp" Ep and the "Deep Six" compilation, only a thousand pressed of the latter. picked it up for 50 bucks about 12 years go, a real steal. I got the Green River "Rehab Doll" album and Mudhoney's "Superfuzz Bigmuff" Ep (first pressing w/poster) around the same time too.

My Augie March collection is also pretty prized. I've got the "Heartbeat & Sails" promo too but its at my ex's. Damn, need that back. The "...Memes" and "Waltz" ep's are signed, so too are the "Sunset Studies" & "Moo..." digi's.

The Burzum stuff would be the hardest to replace as most of it was put out in limited quantities. The self titled & "Aske" cd's on Deathlike Silence were pressed in 1,000 only. The original version of "Det Som Engang Var" was first put out by Vikernes himself and was done to 950 copies. Also the vinyl of "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" was done in 2,000 copies on marble white vinyl. The rarest Burzum item would have to be the promo cassette version Vikernes & Samoth (Emperor) were sending around of "Hvis lyset...". At this stage the album was going to be called "Pa Svarte Troner" and had a different tracklisting. With Samoth signing the cover I reckon this would go for heaps on the old 'bay. Got the Emperor demo aswell.

Got the first 2 Carcass albums signed by Bill Steer: "Reek of putrefaction" & "Symphonies of sickness".
The Destroyer 666 collection is nice. Includes the first demo tape printed to a massive 20 copies!

Now, just for a few Ep's that won't mean much to anyone, but I wouldn't part with them for any money as they've got sentimental value (as well as killer music on them):

Sadistik Exekution "The magus"
Thou Shalt Suffer "Open the mysteries of your creation"
Acheron "Deprived of afterlife"
Fleurety "A darker shade of evil"
Strid "Strid"
Gehenna "Ancestor of the darkly sky"

ALIEN ANAL 05.02.2007 06:42 AM

didnt you just paste links..and only links?.....

Protectmeyou 05.02.2007 06:50 AM

I meant don't just paste links to jpg's found online, take your own photos, as I did.

Can I say first that I don't believe in this kind of thing, collecting for the sake of collecting, especially rarities? I believe in collecting what you like, so what I'm showing here are things I'm especially fond of but that perhaps not as many people own. I didn't buy them because they were rare or anything.

Can I say second that even though I don't believe in this kind of thing I still like reading and responding to these threads? I'm always impressed with collections. I'm pathetic.

Savage Clone 05.02.2007 08:49 AM

I think this thread could be very fun and be about sharing rather than bragging. I'll take some pics this afternoon when I get home from work.
I'm excited to see what appears here from you guys.

Everyneurotic 05.02.2007 10:31 AM

yes, bragging sucks.

that said, i don't have a camera, but as some of you probably know, i have a copy of shellac's the futurist; that's the rarest i have, i reckon.

SonicSam 05.02.2007 12:09 PM

I have 56 records / CDs by the band J Church, can't be arsed to take a picture.

Protectmeyou 05.03.2007 02:28 AM

I don't collect for the sake of collecting, I couldn't afford to! I buy the records because they're my favourite bands and I love the music. God, do you think I'd be buying obscure black metal 7 inches by bands no ones heard of cause I'm gonna get a return? It's music i love. Yeah I'm bragging a little..... thats allowed in a thread like this. Don't be so precious guys.

Anyways... post away!

val-holla-ing 05.03.2007 02:33 AM

i'll post my different collections tomorrow.

atsonicpark 05.03.2007 02:56 AM

may i ask, how did you get the futurist, everyneurotic??

i bought it from the used records bin on a nyc record shop, the people there had no idea what it was, actually the guy asked me "so what is this anyway?"

ondskan 05.03.2007 12:19 PM

Nice Burzum collection, Protectmeyou. May i ask how much you paid for the cassette promos?

Too bad my camera is broken, so i'll just post pics from the internet.

In my little Mayhem-collection, their first album Deathcrush is the rarest. Original release on Posercorpse Records (no re-issue!), 1000 copies exists.
Also got the second issue of their legendary bootleg Dawn of the Black Hearts. Picturedisc, released in 666 copies.

I've got a copy of Emperors As the Shadows Rise EP (picturedisc). Released on Hells Slaughter, only 300 copies were made.

My most valuable vinyl is Cult Of Lunas Bodies / Recluse 7" (my own photo). Limited to 500 copies, features covers of Smashing Pumpkins Bodies and Recluse by Unbroken.

Here are some more...I haven't really delved into some of the better-packaged ones yet, because I would like to do them some sort of photographic justice..

Amon Düül II - Yeti original

Early Kraftwerk stuff, 2nd pressing

Nurse With Wound 4 LP box set

Kali Bahlu Takes The Forest Children On A Journey Of Cosmic Remembrance
(crappy photos, sorry)

Cardinal Rob 05.03.2007 06:45 PM

I have a copy of the "f# a# (infinity)" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor issue with silver writing, a train-crushed penny and glued front picture (limited to 500). A bit like this but with imprinted titles:

Other things I guess I could note would be an Anarchy in the UK single on EMI, second pressing, and VU's "Sweet Jane". I've a pretty small collection frankly, but some are impressive fer my age and that.

floatingslowly 05.03.2007 08:20 PM

I love my records and they never get to see the light of day. I have no way to play them and other than the sentimentality, they are practically dead weight.

I'm just going to post my favorites. I didn't even take pics of everything I wanted to, but it was fun to look at them again.

my Bauhaus collection:

Butthole Surfers - Psychic Powerless.... & The Jack Officers - Digital Dump
Revolting Cocks - Big Sexy Land & Let's Get Physical (test press pre-olivia newton john lawsuit lyrics...woot!):

Psychic TV - Roman P Flaming Lips - Hear It Is (white vinyl.....and also the wife's) :)
Tones on Tail - Performance SPACE:1999!

Savage Clone 05.03.2007 08:21 PM

I have the 7" version of "Roman P," with the clear varnish overlay printing. Does the 12" have that too? That is one of their best tunes ever.

floatingslowly 05.03.2007 08:24 PM

Spacemen3 - Sound of Confusion Big City Playing with Fire (marbled vinyl):

Spiritualized - Feel So Sad & Laser Guided Melodies (came with a 7"...no idea where it is):

Spectrum - True Love Will Find You In The End

sorry for the wankfest...but I was having too much fun looking at them. :D

My friend just got a decent copy of this for £10. I was tracking the exact same copy on ebay and noticed he put a bid in about 20 minutes before the end. I thought it pointless to bid against him.

I don't have that much rare stuff. I have a copy of Sun City Girls 330,003 Crossdressers on vinyl which can be quite pricey.

nope, just Good Vibrations on the B-Side.

I almost took pics of my entire Psychic TV collection...but yeah, that's really the best.

Savage Clone 05.03.2007 08:26 PM

I have that Spectrum one. They made some really nice ones at that time. My copy of Soul Kiss with the dye globules totally dried up over time though, as did every other vinyl copy that anyone I knew had. Too bad, because that wasone of the coolest packages ever.

Iain 05.03.2007 08:26 PM

I also have Phallus Dei on vinyl but it's not the first issue and I also have Carnival in Babylon but that one isn't that hard to get hold of. Not as much as Yeti or Dance of the Lemmings, both of which I would like to have.

Savage Clone 05.03.2007 08:28 PM

£10 is quite the deal for Yeti!
My copy of Phallus Dei is old, but not original and not terribly valuable.
I have a lot of original Gong LPs I bought on the cheap from an older friend about 15 years ago.

Iain 05.03.2007 08:32 PM

Yeah, I know....bastard!

Do you have the copy of Phallus Dei with the band on the cover at the bottom and the O of Amon is a sun with lines coming out of it...and the cover is purple coloured? That's the one I have and it cost next to nothing...about £5 I think. I had assumed that all early Amon Duul vinyl would be pricey.

wow! I remember that one! I almost got it, but went with the cd instead.

most of my Spacemen3 stuff is on cd. I even have the original Dreamweapon! :)

Everyneurotic 05.03.2007 08:34 PM

savage clone: you forgot to mention your dreamweapon vinyl.

floatingslowly 05.03.2007 08:35 PM

ooh! does it have the backward tracking Esctasy (In Slow Motion)??

that's rad if so.

Savage Clone 05.03.2007 08:41 PM

Yep, it plays from the inside out. I didn't have a manual turntable when I first got it, and it was a couple of years before I got one and could hear it from the beginning. The auto-reject on my old cheap turntable would always kick in if I moved it so close to the center!
I also have the Sonic Boom "Drone Dream" EP that can be played at any speed.

Yeah, the Sunset one.
I got it for $12.

Nothing. Samoth sent it to me to review in the fanzine I was writing for.

MellySingsDoom 05.05.2007 04:07 AM

Bertrand - what's "Commercial Zone" like?

Bertrand 05.05.2007 05:27 AM

It's an album I like; it's got songs that ended up on This Is What You Want, with a different treatment, say, more intimate. No big sound, as if it had been recorded in a room next to a place where young kids were sleeping. Fine instrumentals.
I can't be too precise though, the only vinyl player I've had access to in the past few years is an old unpredictable one thas has a tendency to destroy everything but 7".
