I dont like the new yeah yeah yeahs album
there is a bit too much cyndi lauper. and general treble sounds.
and I like cyndi lauper. just not with my karen o. dull life possibly the only exception on the album. this makes me sad. I want to return it. :( |
y control, y control, yu hup hup hup hup hup
my weiner's out of control |
It is much better than Show Your Bones, but I miss the early YYYs a bunch. Although, I do like the incorporation of the drum machine more. It just lacks the drumming and guitar to back it up. There is NO other band that sounded like them for YYYs/Machine/Fever to Tell. Every song was perfect, or nearly so.
|
wow are you kidding? show your bones was epic for me.. and everything up until I loved. just not this/ It all sounds really overworked? perhaps. Not sure I can describe exactly why I dont like it. There is definately a lot missing/been removed. Its not raw at all.
|
I really didn't like Show Your Bones except for Cheated Hearts. I was hoping It's Blitz would follow up Is Is in sound....which it didn't. It really doesn't sound like the same 3 people.

agreed :( perception and feeling is so interesting. is is (is... in the same vein as show yr bones.. for me. |
I think I look at Is Is different because except for the song "Isis" they were playing those songs sometimes during their time around Fever To Tell. "Rockers To Swallow" and "Down Boy" especially evoke that raw power they used to have. Karen's yowl, Nick's guitar that is simple yet abstract, and Brian's drumming beyond it all. None of those stand out anymore.
|
Considering they're one of the shittiest bands ever and they've only gotten worse with every release... does ANYONE like the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album? Granted, I've only heard one song from it but it was the most boring bullshit I've heard from any band in a long time. Who gives a flying fuck. Total shit.
|
atsonic, you bitch.
Fever to Tell was a fun album but I lost interest when the second one came out. |
Awful band releases awful album. Next.
|
As much as you'd like to believe it so, your personal opinion is not the ultimate when it comes to all things musical.
|
i loved their first EP, single & album, and they were excellent both times i saw them, i only listened to the second album once, and all i can remember was that was that they'd gone acoustic. what the fuck is the point of a band with that much energy playing fucking acoustic rock?
i just heard the new single on youtube....i don't have the patience right now to think of a way to describe precisely how awful i thought it was. |
^Yup. First EP and album really were a blast. After that I just wasn't feelin it.

Shit? I think that about covers it for me. |
Four songs really stand out to me: Soft Shock, Hysteric, Skeletons', and Little Shadow. It took me a few listens to appreciate the album, but now I do think it's a great addition to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' catalog. All of their releases sound different, which is cool to me. They're able to reinvent their sound, but maintain an identity. Show Your Bones is still my favorite though. The Sweets is an incredible song.

Was looking forward to listening to it....just not anymore.

Guess it's just the digital aura you project. |
No, I'm just informed, honest, and I listen with an open mind. That seems to intimidate people.
|
I've only ever heard one song from their debut album, I thought it was pretty good, but I guess not enough to get me to get one of there albums. Although, I did almost buy one when I saw it, but it was too much so I was just like, whatever, and bought a Lush album.
|
YYY = Yawn Yawn Yawn
|
Why? Why? WHy?
|
I think they're a great looking band. Music-wise they've never moved me.

you've posted 6 times in the thread already, more than anyone else in fact,. why why why so much if you hate hate hate hate? Find another thread for a band that sounds like beefheart to slap it off to how repetitive. anyways..................... |
So, you made a thread about insulting a band's album, and that's okay since you're a hardcore fan and all... though when someone else insults a band or the album, who usually isn't a fan of the band anyway, it's wrong. Oh, and if you notice, I have the most replies because I've been replying to people on this thread saying things to me, not repeating myself in every post like you're insinuating. 2 posts of "the 6" were actually insulting the band. You know, that's what a message board is for, though, right? To reply? That's why you start topics. To have discussions? Did you know that? Don't start a thread if you don't want people to reply.
Not trying to be mean, btw. |
I like the ep that came out a couple of years ago and the first album. I don't know the rest.

I'm really not a snob regarding anything. I don't give a shit what people like. KoRn and SlipKnot are two of my favorite bands. I'm a total snob, obviously.
Anyway: ![]() |
Ouch^
She looks like she's in pain from the bus that just ran over her four times. A great vocalist, though. |
i'm pretty yeah yeahs yeahs neutral. it's an ok thing to listen to but i've never found them particularly exciting or interesting, just kinda good.
this album is the first time they've gotten a strong response from me, it's complete crap, it sounds like metric or something crap like that. crap |
the first metric album is really good

There's nothing worse than someone trying too hard, is there? |
So because she has her own style and actually makes the effort to give her audience a very theatrical show, she's trying too hard?
They don't really do anything for me, but I like what Karen O does in theory. |

It's like those people who go on about how mad they are. They're usually the sanest people you'll ever meet. |
I dunno anything about trying too hard, that picture's just hilarious. I don't really pay attention to a band's style or whatever usually.
