there is a bit too much cyndi lauper. and general treble sounds.
and I like cyndi lauper. just not with my karen o. dull life possibly the only exception on the album. this makes me sad. I want to return it.

It is much better than Show Your Bones, but I miss the early YYYs a bunch. Although, I do like the incorporation of the drum machine more. It just lacks the drumming and guitar to back it up. There is NO other band that sounded like them for YYYs/Machine/Fever to Tell. Every song was perfect, or nearly so.

wow are you kidding? show your bones was epic for me.. and everything up until I loved. just not this/ It all sounds really overworked? perhaps. Not sure I can describe exactly why I dont like it. There is definately a lot missing/been removed. Its not raw at all.

I really didn't like Show Your Bones except for Cheated Hearts. I was hoping It's Blitz would follow up Is Is in sound....which it didn't. It really doesn't sound like the same 3 people.

I think I look at Is Is different because except for the song "Isis" they were playing those songs sometimes during their time around Fever To Tell. "Rockers To Swallow" and "Down Boy" especially evoke that raw power they used to have. Karen's yowl, Nick's guitar that is simple yet abstract, and Brian's drumming beyond it all. None of those stand out anymore.

Considering they're one of the shittiest bands ever and they've only gotten worse with every release... does ANYONE like the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album? Granted, I've only heard one song from it but it was the most boring bullshit I've heard from any band in a long time. Who gives a flying fuck. Total shit.

As much as you'd like to believe it so, your personal opinion is not the ultimate when it comes to all things musical.

i loved their first EP, single & album, and they were excellent both times i saw them, i only listened to the second album once, and all i can remember was that was that they'd gone acoustic. what the fuck is the point of a band with that much energy playing fucking acoustic rock?
i just heard the new single on youtube....i don't have the patience right now to think of a way to describe precisely how awful i thought it was. |

Four songs really stand out to me: Soft Shock, Hysteric, Skeletons', and Little Shadow. It took me a few listens to appreciate the album, but now I do think it's a great addition to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' catalog. All of their releases sound different, which is cool to me. They're able to reinvent their sound, but maintain an identity. Show Your Bones is still my favorite though. The Sweets is an incredible song.

No, I'm just informed, honest, and I listen with an open mind. That seems to intimidate people.
