oh fuck i love sam fuller. i have not seen ALL of his films because they are hard to find.

i've watched:
shock corridor
the naked kiss
china gate
the big red one

and who is the one who made "tigrero"? i think it was aki kaurismaki.... man if you like sam fuller you gotta see this one... it's about the movie he never made... fucking brilliant-- has some of the shots that appeared in shock corridor btw....

Couldn't agree more... Directors always work in close collaboration with cinematographers... they turn the director's vision into a reality.

oh fuckses. it was not aki but MIKA kaurismaki-- who-- i dont know who that is except for the movie (which im sure you can google)

tigrero features jim jarmusch & sam fuller who go back to the jungle where 20 or so years before sam was supposed to have made a movie called "tigrero" w/ john wayne & i forget who else.

some of the images he took at the time made it into shock corridor. (you'll recognize them).

anyway about the OTHER kaurismaki (aki), he's a genius, hilarious, deadpan, amazing in a very low-budget sort of way. check it out too.

YOU NEED A GOOD DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
or everything will go to shit
(that's what happened to "sideways" in my opinion-- could have been a much better movie if not for the crappy look).

Mika kaurismaki is younger than I thought.

Tigrero & The Liar looks interesting. I tend to like stuff coming from northern Europe.
Lars von Trier is one of my other favs.
