The top 3 for windows seem to be:
Antivir - I had problems with high CPU usage when I tried it AVG Free - Seems to work OK, but I never get viruses (accidentally) Avast - Haven't tried it, yet If you're not using it already, I recommend AdAware for spyware, which is far more common if you're using IE. I've seen computers where spyware has completely taken over to the point of being unusable, and it's a rarity when I use someone else's computer without it having something nefarious on it. |

Someone is going to say "the best protection against viruses is a Mac".
Before you do, it's not funny. SpyBot AdAware (As recommended above) Those are two great (free) spyware programs that might solve some problems. They don't help with viruses, though. I use a payed-for Norton so I'm not familiar with free virus stuff. Either way, I find the two spyware programs are practically a necessesity, and I hate unnecessary programs cluttering up my computer. If you use the internet, they will fix things. |

I haven't used an Antivirus program since M$ released Service Pack 2. I don't use IE and I don't download crap like javascript games or stupid flash videos with titles like "You've gotta see this" Haha
