Right - you're all a bit album-centric in your threads - what were the best live shows you saw this year, and your favourite singles?

Mine were - Messiaen's St Francis... in London, the same's Quartet for the End of time locally , Beethoven's 7th in Rome, the Dave Collett trio locally, Enzuiguri four million times and the old Yorkshire sorts in a pub in Somerset singing Carter Family songs about half a foot away from my face.

Singles - Alphabeat's Fascination, Girls Aloud's the Promise & Ladyhawke's Back of the Van. I'll post more singles when I think of them.

Apologies if this is a duplicate thread. Or not, I probably don't care.

There's two singles I forgot about - good skills. The Bug actually had two of my favourites - Skeng was also awesomest.

Junior Spesh! Lidl! It's all coming back to me now...

Avril's and GA's were in '07, but very good shouts nonetheless.

absolutely yes. partly because of the music itself, and partly because of meeting greenlight and having good time with him, as well as meeting with Lee and taking a picture with him. A memorable evening.

I saw them on Halloween, Robin came out with a Leatherface mask and played the first 5 or so songs with it on. Total madness. I flipped my shit during "Terrible Lie" and "Wish"

Best?-can't really say toss up between NIN, SY, Deerhoof and Mars Volta
Most fun?-Misfits, for sure
Singles?-"Eraser" - No Age

Hank IV - definition of "nailing it"
Box Elders, NoBunny, Wax Museums, Traditional Fools, Wounded Lion - strictly for being such boffo fun!
Yellow Fever - absolutely riveting cleverness
Long Legged Woman - you will hear more about these guys soon!
Eternal Tapestry - heavier wallop than their usual psych seance
Shearing Pinx, Night Wounds, AIDS Wolf, Curse of the Birthmark - most drastic 'n crucial darn-near-moshable moments

I wish I had something interesting to add but I haven't really been to many shows or bought many new albums.

The best show I saw this year was probably Prurient opening for Xiu Xiu.

prurient was excellent when i saw him in january too. i should have added him to the list, also shellac were phenomenal, and i had a good time seeing lightning bolt.
