Hey
I am driving down to North Caorlina tomorrow for about a week. On my way down I thought about spending a few hours in Richmond VA for a few hours. Does anyone know what are some good places to check out and walk around there? Then, in a few days i am going to be going to Asheville NC before driving to NYC through the Blue Ridge Parkway. So if anyone can recommend me some good places to eat/see shows in Asheville, preferably folk, country, bluegrass, old timey stuff. And if anyone knows of some nice hiking trails as well as camping grounds on the blue ridge parkway that would be great. Thanks a bunch!

Wow, that's incredibly witty. Do you make this stuff up or do you have writers?

I imagine Asheville to be the worst place to be pregnant.

thanks!
i am looking for a shortish hike for today, so maybe i will do pisgah. and maybe later check out the brewerys. other than buskers is there a place where one can regularly find like old time music being played? last night i only found an open mike night, but it was far from old time music.

and i climbed mount pisgah on a beautiful day. it was really nice and sucha lovely walk and amazing view. all in all asheville was really cool. i guess the trick there is to go out towards evening which is when the interesting things happen. unfortunately i didn't hear that much old time music, however i saw some great dixieland/early jazz type bands, which were great. this band was excellent

Asheville's really not about old timey music. There are some bands around here that do that, but they're the exception. Sanctum Scully is a great bluegrass-based band that is also very jazzy and bluesy. They even do a great cover of Billie Jean, all the while sounding like a bluegrass band. They are very cool.
But yeah, mostly Asheville is about alt/indie rock or whatever it's called these days. Glad you got into Pisgah. I should have recommended that. Great area for hiking. Wedge is a great brewery but I like Pisgah brewery better, more adventurous, more into stronger Belgian styles, and they're a great music venue.
