well i've always been a mogwai fan, but for some reason i put off buying their latest record for quite awhile...so i just picked it up this weekend while music shopping and man is it great!! Maybe even their best since young team! I might even give it record of the year so far, and thats saying a lot since this is a year in which SY put out a record. Well...maybe i should listen to it more before i jump to such conclusions, but i'm loving this record. Anyone else fans?

Yeah I love it....much better than their past 2. My favorite track is prob. the closer We're No Here. Did you pick up the "deluxe copy" or whatever with the DVD of them recording it? Pretty cool.

I like it a lot but I really enjoy almost all of their albums a lot...even the lighter stuff because it has great instrumentals. But i'm more of a stereotypical mogwai fan who thinks their first album was their best.

i used to like mogwai a lot, but i started to lose interest when rock action came out.... and their music became really formulaic. but this thread makes me curious about their latest antics.

yep (time to share deeper thoughts),i really like this album, songs are shorter then average mogwai-style, guitars are GREAT, less "new-age" sounds a la "happy songs..",more "muscular" tunes...really nice album, with the tunes they needed to make live sets less "monotone" in my opinion.i watched the dvd (actually a divx ripped from it) and i had some troubles understanding what they say...i love their accent, but it's a bit too hard for me to get all the words....i wish i was born somewhere else sometimes, doooooooooooing.
T&B,rock action has "you don't know jesus" in it,i absolutely adore that song.one of my mogwai's fav.you do not like the whole record? by the way, kinda off topic,do you guys know 65daysofstatic?i love them, amazing live.they're from sheffield,i think...kinda "mogwai-meet-aphex twin". http://www.65daysofstatic.com

The DVD is a bit crap aside from the nice footage of Glasgow. They make great music but i think it was a bit of an afterthought.
The album however is a belter, very different to all their other albums that ive heard, and all the better for it. |

Yeah the DVD was more of a freebie that anything else, but I'll take it for a buck more. I wish it would have been more of the live footage that they had on there instead of the banter back and forth that is kind of hard to decipher.

Mr. Beast is a damn good record. I just got it two weeks ago and I've been playing it non stop ever since. I love how the band keeps maturing as they go on. They stay the same yet they still evolve their signature sound. Genius band.

This album is absolutely fantastic. I don't got the limited edition so I don't have the DVD, but I think it's going to be one of the year's record

That's too bad, I really like Rock Action. I thik it has some of Mogwai's best material on it. I know it seemed kind fo formulaic but it was still a much better album than Come On Die Young.
