In the November (20th anniversary) issue of Q magazine Bowie says Sonic Youth are one of his top 3 bands of the past 20 years. Their work "never ceases to enthral" him. And he wishes he had written Teen Age Riot. |

Yeah. I was just summing up what it said for people who couldnt be bothered to click on the link. Its not news that he loves them. But the link to the news bit on his website is Sonic Youth-y so I thought I'd post it. Thats all. I wonder if he will try and book them to play his new Meltdown-esque festival in NY next year.. |

Bowie is a splendid historical artifact, but not terribly relevant to the current era.

Eh, his current music is irrelevant, his music from 1969-1980 is timeless. |

i always respected Bowie cuz he has this whole kinda friendship with Trent Reznor, so i never really took into slagging him off or anything.
i still wont be slagging him off dont really like him that much though.

Bowie namechecked Sonic Youth as a favorite "current band" in a radio interview I heard him give in 1990, so he definitely goes pretty far back with them.

Bowie is one of the most important, influencial and consistantly brilliant artists of the 20th century (and 21st for that matter). The fact that he keeps collaborating with new artists (even lesser known Bands...Start playing attention Elton John) makes him a perfect example of how to stay relevent into your 50's. He seems to get cooler with every passing year!
