Alex Colville. I don't like all his stuff, but some pieces, like this, I find very powerful.

Yeah, you're right, I think this picture kinda represents the technology being created over nature and the locomotive kinda killed the horse at the time as a way to travel...

I dont see mark ryden as low brow. He was one of the first to paint kitschy and tortured type things like this, Im sure. There is too much of it now and it is fucking boring, but I still like rydens stuff. It's different to me.

I'm really interested in the way artists like Mark Ryden exist within the art world. The whole Pop Surrealism thing is really fascinating I think. Juxtapoz is a great magazine for that kind of stuff.

The way I see it there are almost levels of class. There are a LOT of artists that to me fall within the category(which is not in any way a 'real' one, this is in my head), most of them are street based or self funded in some way. To me it's the difference between the content and focus in Juxtapoze to that in Artforum. It's more accessable art, I guess.

Looks a bit like Yves Tanguy, but don't quote me on that.

why is it that when fashion people get all serious they always end up making clothes that look like they were designed in the 80s. |

I always thought his art was sort of disturbing and creepy. And I'm mainly talking about the first two. Something about the colors and shadows is weird. I like it though because I like art like that. |

Aye, I always thought of the horse as a nightmare, or something. Something not real. I love surrealism and I think what they call "hyper-realism".
