I'm not meaning to be critical.
Okay, I am. But what do I know. |

At least he's being honest.
Flauntingly, obnoxiously honest, but honest nonetheless. |

True. Maybe it's the flaunting part that gets me most? But he's right. I shouldn't judge. I'm sure the Depression generation would probably look at me and think I was spoiled compared to them. So, who knows.... |

We all have our advantages and disadvantages.
I never ask my parents for money, but there have been a few times where they have made a generous offer and I have accepted. I am glad to have gotten where I am (humble as it is) under my own steam though. When I had my parents out to the studio once, they both remarked on how impressed they were that I kept up with music so fervently for so long when there wasn't much financial return coming from it. I don't think there is anything wrong with being a rich kid (none of us can help who we are born to; I was in a band with a guy who came from money and he was and is one of the best friends I've ever had), but there can be problems with how one is perceived based on how gracefully one handles one's given set of advantages. |

Well, and who knows? You're probably gonna be better off than I'll ever be, and maybe there'll come a day when I need to hit you up for a job or some money. So you're still my friend. Okay? My really good friend who has money and is generous.

Well, perhaps your constant postings of posh parties, musings on designer clothes and such things have contributed to our misconceptions.
I'm not trying to rag on you, but surely you must realize that you have made an impression as something of a materialistic, pampered child of privilege. Not getting "spending money" but having your basic necessities guaranteed will not really get much sympathy from most people. Perhaps if you showed a more well-rounded picture of yourself, people would be less likely to have such a "one-dimensional" impression? |

Plus, you like Ash Ra Tempel, so you're gonna get some points with me regardless.

let the kid live his life. all he asked was for a website and you guys are tearing him apart for choices that aren't really his, i.e. his parents paying for things. it may be more admirable to say "no, really, mom, i want to do this on my own," but he'd be sacrificing getting an experience that a lot of people would kill to have. and the only reason to sacrifice would be so that people don't come down on him the way you all are now. it's expensive enough here that he will have to earn his own spending money, so let him do that.
have a great time in new york. |

Go see a lot of bands. Check out the record shops. I'm a jealous creep, quite frankly.

I want to move to New York. I don't care if he has money, all in all he seems well-rounded with me.
