but just for the sake of argument:
Most of he same posters in that thread made mostly idiotic comments on the board, & rarely contributed anything of intellectual value.
To quote Judge Judy haha, don't piss on my leg & tell me it's raining.

There aren't the inherent problems with the "Sonic Youth" thread because there are page numbers. Similarly, the lack of rep points on the other board caused post count to be deemed the arbiter of seniority & so the club was doing it for that reason. The "hey" thread was about a group of banterers that excluded themselves to be elitist & feel special. The secret links to the last page & the implicit ignoring of other posters that did not "belong" to the little clique reaffirms that fact.

chabib thought of everything when selecting this software; everything, that is, except for giving me the power to ban anyone I choose haha. And no, in that highly hypothetical case (it was a joke), I wouldn't ban Toilet & Bowels. I've gotta include that, you see, because otherwise some pathetic, perpetually predictable nincompoop will most cetainly ask.

i rarely see witty banter on this board and its a shame. i dont know, it feels more like a power struggle most of the time or the cold war.

wait, you complain about a lack of intellectual posts and then you quote judge judy?
anyway, i assure your impression of that thread is completely misguided, anyone who wanted to post in it was welcome, quite a few people joined in posting in that thread well after it had started, and they were generally high quality (rather than dumb) posters like guppyfish or bunny breckinridge. if it was elitist i would admit it. it's only natural that like minded posters will gravitate towards each other, and you can hardly blame people who enjoy each other's chat for talking to one another rather than to people whose chat they don't. unless you're just feeling left out.

Without witty and sarcastic banter I would feel a LOT less connected to a lot of people on here I have come to consider friends.
I wouldn't consider these people friends had I not been able to throw down some witty, sarcastic banter to begin with.
