I know it sucks. I can't say it will always get better. Just enjoy those little stabs of happiness...sometimes a little too late.

yeah, i know. i mean i'm lucky that i can work my own hours. but it's tough. i'm a really big extrovert and need to be around people. unless i'm sick, if i go more than three or four days without the company of people i get really, really sad. ugh....

Me too. I actually chose to work. My husband ran a business for 5 years so I could stay home with the kids. I just was not happy locked up at home all day cleaning the same shit all the time. Social contact is a good thing.

to add to the complaint, my gf is a major introvert. she commutes 4+ hrs every day and is around people she is not comfortable with. so when she comes home, she really doesn't want our friends there. it doesn't work. whenever i want to invite a friend it becomes a major source of tension. having people come over to do things like watch a movie really doesn't work for me. i've had 3 friends over at a time before and she considers that to be a "party"...whereas that, for me, is pretty much nothing. i'm happiest when i'm around that many people 4 days a week or so. this is the first time we've lived together & in all my other living situatons i was able to have shitloads of people over whenever. it was even that case when i lived with my parents (my mom was well aware that i threw parties. she was cool with it as long as nothing got destroyed)....ugh.

i commend you. i could never be a housewife. i personally think that work is provides meaning. without work to do/projects i'd be totally lost. that being said, i'm also one to over commit myself. for example at college in 1 semester, i organized/directed/produced the vagina monologues, was president of a club, worked on a zine, was a core organizers of both take back the night and an after school program for inner city children...all the while smoking weed with friends every night, working part time, and taking a full challenging course load. & that was me at my happiest.

a lot of people DO find meaning in running a home though-- there's plenty of work to be had. where i come from, "housewives" are far from "locked up cleaning shit"-- they have maids for that-- & their time is spent in here's been called "social contact" (licit or otherwise) and causes & classes & all manner of entertaintment as well as the raising of the offspring. then there's japan-- you go to college for it. |

yes, i wasn't trying to say that housework is not necessarily meaningful. i personally however need to be doing projects with others or else i get seriously depressed. also, housework also used to be a college major at many schools in the usa.

I loved taking care of the fam and the house, but when yr a lower class family 30 miles away from civilization it gets a little tiring. You start talking to squirells in the yard. My husband made good money but these days that don't go very far. It is harder work than my job is that's fr sure.
I find myself blessed that women have the opportunity to work. I'm taking advantage of all the benefits that our female ancestors were not afforded.

We had home economics in middle school. I don't think they offer that anymore though.
