The only first person perspective game I care about right now is Mirror's Edge. It looks legitimately fun, creative and is a change of pace from being the bald marine who kills aliens.

I'm waiting for They Hunger to come out for Half Life 2. They've taken way too long on it. The original three were awesome (until the end...).

Well said indeed. I am really getting so sick of FPS. There have been some great fps's in the last 10 years. Duke Nukem 3D, Unreal Tournament ( 1st one ), the Half life series, the quake series, the doom series etc, but it's just getting tired. It's a good genre but god the overkill, the endless list of world war II sims and strategic military ops games. Uggh. I remember Mario Galaxy almost won game of the year but Bioshock took it simply because it was a FPS. We need some more 3D platformers is what we need. Games that are fun to play. |

I gotta say GTA IV is very impressive. GTA III still is too. The first gta III was definatly the better than vice city and san andreas.

I say we need more 3-D platformers for sure.
also, does anyone know of any decent flying/dogfighting/simulation game out there for the PS2 or the gamecube? I would KILL for a WWI, Red Baron style dogfighting game. or a good WWII one. I have a couple (Ace Combat 4 was OK) and while allright, there is really very little in the way of flight sims or quality flying battle or mission games. why is that?

bioshock is visually stunning, has a great story, it's superfun to play (you can do entire levels without having to shoot with an actual weapon, there are really creative and fun ways to use your "powers"), it's way more than a simple "usual" FPS. That said, it's probably still overrated. but it's a great game.

I don't think Bioshock is overrated at all. The creators did an awesome job on it. The atmosphere is brilliant. And there were a couple sections that were fanastically scary: The dentist sneaking up behind you and waiting til you turn around? Scared the shit out of me.
It could have been longer, though. |

I've actually played through a lot of bioshock despite not having a 360. Played it at my friend's house. I don't like fps's, but it was pretty cool. The last boss was a complete pushover though.

Bioshock and Galaxy were both brilliant in different ways.
Grand Theft Auto 4 now takes the cake for me though... that game... wow. How did I forget to put it on my list...?

Bioshock was very overrated in my opinion. Galaxy was very underrated. No one gave a shit about it, everyone was just masturbating over Halo 3 when it came out. Bioshock is definately a good game, I just think it was very overrated. Galaxy was AMAZING, the videogame I've been waiting to play my whole life. Not trying to compare the two at all, you can't. It's just they came out around the same time and Galaxy was the game of the year in my book.
