Simple, just name the venue you like to see a show in the most.
The Orange Peel, Asheville, NC I've seen Sonic Youth & Dinosaur Jr there. -sidebar- Why don't we make a request tour for SY from all the responses posted. (sounds interesting, doesn't it?)

Lucky you. The Melivns & Mudhoney shows must have been outstanding.
I was going to see the Melvins at a small club here in Knoxville, but it turned out to be another rumor of the Melvins coming to this shite town, or as Iggy would say, "Butt Town". (ha ha)

I like the Aragon in Chicago. It's big enough not to be cramped, but it has a "cozy" atmosphere.

nature scene:
The Orange Peel is the best small venue in the southeast, in my opinion. There's just something about that personal feel you get w/ the group. It's like, it's more of a rehearsal, than a performance. O.K so now the list is; The Orange Peel, Ashevile NC Black Cat, Was., DC 40 Watt, (???) Aragon, Chicago Camden Koko, London The Spitz, London Ausland, Berlin P.S. This is my fault, I should have reitterated that we'll need to know the location of said venue. I'm sorry, my fault.

Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff. The downstairs bit anyway...
The Looking Glass in Leicester. Music Cafe in Leicester. The Point in Cardiff. The Spitz in London seemed nice but I've only been there once. |

I should add that I like Roisin's in Galway, but it is far too small for any 'major' shows.

I've only been to the 9:30 Club and it was alright. I can't really judge because I have nothing to judge it to. It's better than my school's auditorium. Heh.

One of the worst in london has to be the Hope and Anchor on Upper Street. If it's packed it feels like being trapped into a shoebox
