I remember when I was in primary school there was a book, a basketball training book, it was called the Andrew Gayes Way. Someone covered over the letters to make it 'The Gays Way' hahahahahahahaha we thought it was so funny when we were kids.

It is neat.
My aunt still gets mail from collectors, asking for him to sign the card. He is deceased now however, so she constantly is sending the card back. I think she has a form letter by now. |

Fucking Hell
Im sure John Amaechi was the only British player in the NBA ten years ago or so, he was playing in the NBA when European players werent commonplace at all like they are now. Fuck this Hardaway cunt, didnt Anthony Hardaway of the magic have the nickname "Penny" anyway. And i cant imagine there is any sport that its harder to be gay in than The NBA. John Amaechi has hosted a few basketball programmes in the UK over the years which ive watched for a while, this fucker Hardaway is a cunt, end of. |

Odd coming from a man (Hardaway) who made his fortune working out, sweating, and tussling with other men for the benefit of a worshipful largely male audiance.

I didnt even know Amaechi was gay until seeing this, i cant imagine how hard it must have been for him when he was playing pro. It just hacks me off, i remember when he played for The Jazz and he was the only Brit player i knew in the league, he was the man, representing us in the big money American league. Even if he was a nobody id be pissed off, but he was a player i had a lot of respect for.

Interesting that this didn't really make news in the UK.
Caused lots of controversy here. Only in America. I imagine it would be the same if a Chelsea player came out. Say? (so sorry sonicl) |

well thats the thing, all the homo-eroticism involved is all washed away with competition of sports, bashing into each other, or beating the crap outta each other, same goes for hockey and football it's hard to come out in the sporting world, i mean not even all of Hollywood is completely out, even there some feel too closeted and ashamed to admit their sexual preferences and that male audience is the part that prevents people from coming out, those are the type that will turn over cars in celebration when you win a world title, and in the same breath will call a formerly fav athlete a 'fag' and thinks he's a freak when he blows a super bowl although, on the other hand, i know for a fact that when you are a star athlete and are producing success, locker room prejudices will fall by the wayside, and has it has happened many times before |

no i dont think its the same. Theres been alot about Sol Campbell and Freddy Lujnberg, and i think Lujnberg is definitely gay but if he came out i dont think it would be nearly as much of a big deal as in basketball

not necessarily, if two gay men were fighting against each other in a heated competition (any sport), and there is mutual animosity then even there homo-eroticism goes away for a bigot, there isn't any existence of homo-erotic thoughts at all, and if anything makes any awkward contact with men a more violent affair, (shoving, punching, starting a riot) |
