I have a recording set-up all ready, almost anyway, and need a few leads for my microphone and speakers so they actually can fit in the right plugs to my laptop. However, I'm not good with names so I'll need some help identifying them, which is where I'm coming to you chaps and chapesses.

Firstly, I have a plughole in both speakers that a normal guitar lead can fit through fine, which need to go into one speaker plug in the laptop (the light green one). But since there are two speakers, I will be needing a sort of adapter which takes two of these regular leads and plugs into the light green speaker/headphone socket in the PC.

The second thing I'm looking for would be a similar adapter, except possibly for three lead plugs, or just one, going into a similar plughole (the red microphone one).

If anyone can see what I'm getting at here and can give me the names for these scronomatonamatons, and even point me towards where I can get them at good prices, I'll be grateful.

nearly as good as titillomania.
*itches head* Sounds like you will need a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to twin 1/4" jack adapter and one of those little dueberries, try maplins.

Sure, before you're going anywhere I have two Shure SM57s, and a Shure SM58 for vocals (I'm at the preliminary years of recording).

I'll also see into what that is you have, Green_mind.

& scronomatonamaton is the best word I've ever made. Thank-you.

This seems like what I need, but would it be best if I'd be getting a cheap, but quality mixer too, if anyone can recommend anything...?

cool, some professional mics, they will need no phantom power either.
What recording software do you have on your laptop?
I'd suggest getting a mixer, may as well get a cheap multi-track recorder such as a Tascam DP-01FX.
Depends what software and hardware you have for your laptop.

buying a cheap mixer would be a good idea, i would recommend a soundcraft spirit folio

i recommended cables as one piece because with every little connector you use such as the one mentioned you lose 3db of gain

Ah, touche.

I use Sonar 6 Producer Edition. It records itself, and has some effects added that are quite effective. Midi shizz can be added, and what have you. It's great, well, what I've previously got up to on it at least.

Any cheap mixers in mind? What attributes shall I be looking for in these?

Thank-you for your help thus far.

they are all much of a muchness, just the soundcraft spirit has nicer sounding mic preamps than what you will find in behringer, mackie, alto and the like

just google the names, or search them in zzounds or musiciansfriend.

e.g.:

http://www.zzounds.com/prodsearch?q=behringer+mixer&cat=&cat2=&ob=p19&but ton=search%2Ffilter&form=search

just use the tape out from the mixer. rca to miniplug cable:

now pls don't ask what that means or i'll smack you.

Thanks to everyone. My friend's directed me from this help to some koo' recommendations, and I'm currently on ebay bidding for a mixer. Cheers.

try the 57 on vocals too, the 57 and 58 are the same capsule just different meshes. you will get different sounds from different mics, try as many combos as you can.
