Mudhoney rocks hardcore and retains a sense of humor, incredible live act too. I lend the march to fuzz doublealbum to people and they don't want to give it back, it's amazing how many people have never heard of them.

I only got the self-titled lp : basic garage-rock with a bit of punk and hard-rock in it ( not bad , but far from great )
But they have/had famous pal. |

They are a great band and I wish they'd tour the east coast more often, but I wouldnt call them one of the best bands in the world right now. I think lightning bolt are more deserving of that title presently.

To answer both of your questions in order: no, and yes. They were probably only one of the best bands in the world for just about 6 months after the "Touch Me, I'm Sick" single came out, and I've never bothered to get one of their full albums (Superfuzz Bigmuff was great and when the cd tagged on the early singles that about covered their best work give or take "When Tomorrow Hits"). Nonetheless, given their contribution to making punk rock and just plain rock music that was worthwhile, indeed invigorating, long after the genres had passed their sell by date, I will forever look at them as "one awesome band". They're still potentially fun live too. Of course I must admit bias, I've known Steve since 1986 and can't help but sense his positive energy in even mediocre tracks he plays on. |

It's funny because today I listened to Superfuzz Bigmuff which was the first time I listened to Mudhoney in the past 6 months or so. I forgot how good they were, but then again there are a lot of other bands that I'd pick before them to listen to.
