Why can't bands be a bit more like them? Oh, and since I am here, I just wanted to say the The Fall's 'Frightened' is one of the best songs ever written. In fact the whole of 'Live At The Witch Trials' is so fucking ace it makes me want to hug strangers in the local shop, it makes me want to body-pop in a cemetery and it makes me want to save troubled tramps' lives. Not really, but I love that record.

been led to believe that Cut was The Slits' only decent recording. I've not heard anything else by them, so I don't know if that's true or not. But their version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine is sheer genius.

I do. I wouldn't accept recommendations about them, I just got them and that was it. But you're right, 'Cut' is their best record.

The world might be a slightly better place if more musicians took to posing topless on their LP sleeves, but I think that on the whole it would be more productive if we could all learn to live in peace and harmony.

They don't. But musicians can't make the world a better place, regardless of what they do or don't promote. Not even Bono.

Look at the hippy era. Most of those people who were going to change the world went on to become stockbrokers. |
