The Cribs were joined onstage by The Smiths’ Johnny Marr in Glasgow on the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour February 1.
The legendary guitarist joined the Wakefield three-piece during their headline slot at the city’s Barrowlands venue, performing The Smiths’ classic 'Panic' and The Cribs own track 'I'm A Realist' together.

Marr has been working with the trio after making friends with Gary Jarman following the pair’s meeting in Portland, Oregon, and is rumoured to be linking-up with the trio after further dates on the current tour.
The band also had a second - albeit recorded - guest as Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo recreated his part for 'Be Safe' via a giant video screen.
The rest of The Cribs set featured tracks from all three of their albums, though focussed mainly on their newer material, including the anthemic 'Men's Needs' and a rousing rendition of 'The Wrong Way', which ended with Ryan Jarman stripping-off his shirt and diving headfirst into the crowd

You're too young to remember this, I expect, but once upon a time Sonic Youth were an nme-shit hipster band. Not an awful one, though. That didn't come until much later*.
