araki is amazing! i saw the retrospective he had recently at the barbican in london- i was a bitcynical that itd just be erotic and pornographic, but he really blew me away.i esspecially love the autumn/winter journey series'- so tender and tragic and beautiful.

oo btw- this should be on the other part of the forum. i wont complain tho, because araki is great...

Reallly?? I just saw the Arakimentari one which was pretty good. How easy is A Floating World to come by?

I tend to like his non-erotic stuff more than the fairly obscene stuff. Except the nicely obscured genitalia stuff. Those are really nice

his early bondage stuff is pretty funny. i used to model for richard kern a little bit and when we tied my ankles to a rope, hoisted me to the ceiling and put my head in a toilet, i think we out-araki'd araki.

i don't know how hard a floating world is to find at the moment. i have an old VHS of it. the actual title is in french, "un monde flottant.".

anyway, his recent retrospective in london was fairly incredible. he's the only photographer i've ever seen who can take interesting photos of food.
