Those of you who keep track of my life (and hey, who doesn't) will know that I've been after this album for quite some time now. I was wondering what the sound quality of it is compared to the original pressing? I've heard the sound quality on the original is pretty poor. Anyway, whoever can help me out here would be greatly appreciated.

ive got that on cd and the sound is poor only because its analoguely (is that a word) recorded. all the glitches and tape stops and clicks better not be reduxed out of it cuz that would ruin the whole "aspect" of the album... which isnt that great to begin with, seriously dated now but still worth getting. surely you can still get that cd at a stupidly low price. i paid about 5 pounds for mine about 15 years ago!

It's not on any of the catalogues of any record stores here, it's by far the hardest Aphex album to find. I had to download it but I want the CD.

Picked it up today, it's in Super Jewel Box form and sounds a little better, though this may be because I rip at 192kbps whereas the version I download was 128.

Yeah I know, I thought that the first time I heard it. But that doesn't make it bad by any means. Green Calx kicks so much ass.

It sounded better than the MP3's I had pryor to buying it. Maybe they were vinyl rips? Then again, he mastered it from casettes, so there's only so much remastering you can do with that. Also a jewel case with rounded edges = super jewel box

yeah i did and im not arguing with you at all zero, its my opinion that this shouldnt have ever been released as a remastered, just reissue the original album... its taking the tag remastering a tad too far and dare i say it... taking the buying music public a bit for granted..... sorry but my opinion on this one is fairly strong.....
anyway...... its still a great document for a certain period in a guys recording life. even if it hasnt all lasted the test of time.... |

Hey Pauly, Classics was re-released in CD form too. I already have it on Vinyl so you'll have to let me know what the CD version is like if you get it.
