WILLIAM BASINSKI "tHE DISINTEGRATION LOOPS" 2062, 2002 4-volume set of nasty old tape loops that slowly but surely get.. disintegrated. Beautiful multi layered ambient loops being destroyed and turned into something new. Just the most beautiful, brilliant, and fascinating music that hardly ever changes that I've ever heard. |

If you're interested in the least in... uh... "ambient"... music, it's essential..

This album is great but my favourite album out of William Basinski's discography is Melancholia.

I really like one I can't recall the name of.. but it's all weird out of tune glassy-sounding piano lines...

have you heard Melancholia by the way?
very sparse, minimalist piano pieces, very very beautiful. |

I sort of prefer it when Basinski concentrates on short bursts of music, The Disintegration Loops are great but don't really hold my attention like some of his other stuff.

Can't help ya right now but this blog type thing:
http://wharfinger.extra.hu/?tag=ambient is where I ORIGINALLY got them from. They've since been deleted, sorry, but there';s a shit load of great stuff over there. Specifically, get the Dead Texan album or anything by Stars of the Lid |

First time be and my buddy tripped we listened to oval - do while for 8 hours. It was amonst the best experiences of my life.
Second time we tripped we listened to disintegration loops for the first time, and we kept questioning whether the music was changing or if it was our heads fucking with us. Also, one time I played the game Xenogears for 4 hours straight and listening to the disintegration loops in its entirety during that. (one time I played Disgaea 2 and listened to la monte young's 5-hour "well-tuned piano" as well) |

Yeah no problem man.
I'd advise everyone to go through both those blogs. So many goodies that it's ridiculous. |
