What's it like to be a girl in a band? I don't quite understand...
What I don't understand is how Sacred Trickster got voted off third. But like I said, I'm not the one voting here. Survivors: Anti-Orgasm Leaky Lifeboat (For Gregory Corso) Antenna What We Know Calming The Snake Poison Arrow Malibu Gas Station Walkin' Blue Massage The History Vote off your LEAST fave...

Calming the Snake...only 'cause the echo effect on Kim's vox in the verses
should have been vetoed. This is getting dumb hard. Poison Arrow has the greatest combination of Lou Reed mimic and drunken vocal panning ever, it's gotta last.

Sacred Trickster should have gotten voted off first.
This round: Antenna.

Someone really is going to have to fill me in on what's so bad about Sacred Trickster. Is it all about paedos or something?

I go for the Leaky Lifeboat bizness too.
demondude - your avatar reminds me of reading an article about Wings today....."the band that the Beatles wish they could have been"

Nothing wrong with a bit of Wings every now and again. Besides, I've always felt that it wasn't so much the music that let them down as Paul and Linda's mullets. A decent enough band whose reputation has been effectively ruined by flat out diabolical haircuts.

Poison Arrow
a) I don't see the need to play the verse, chorus, whatever a full time through before Thurston starts to sing. (This happens on Sacred Trickster, Anti-Orgasm, and Malibu too, but I feel the music is much more interesting on those tracks...) b) How does "Who shot the poison arrow?" relate to the rest of the lyrics? And then... why repeat it four times? c) Even for a Lou Reed mimic, Thurston sounds a little too cool for school, and I agree with others about the panning on Kim... I like the song, especially the overly hidden bass line at the end, but it's a little forgettable. The rest of the songs are pretty much flawless to me. |

My spies have indicated to me a different concept for the "Sacred Trickster" video, involving Bob Bert presenting his collection of Julia Cafritz's plectrums and used undergarments in a Richard Kern-style montage.
dr666 - Wings felled by mullets, eh? Does that explain these false-reggae moments too?

No, I mean Wings were ultimately pretty shit, but they weren't exactly helped by the fact that most of the band looked like members of the Socialist Workers Party, either. |
