As the day comes to a close, I suggest all of you check out this photo, taken at an undisclosed Target location, of the new Sonic Youth album display. And then think about what it means that this is where a huge portion of the country goes to buy new music. And then stop wondering why everyone everywhere continues to be so fucking stupid.

Seriously, i was waiting for some shit like that to happen, I thought it would with rather ripped, but, oh no corporate america waited for the bands 19th album to declare to the world their potential longevity as artists.

Its not that the album is at target(the point is to sell records), it that its located in the ''artist on the verge'' section, to me that implies some new band on the verge of success or getting recognized.

It's just that Matador affords that much better distribution then DGC. Which is kind of messed up, but whatever.

Thurston has mentioned how he fact that sonic youth never hada big hit a big moment of supa fame and celebrity, and how that has kept the band together.
wonder if a humongous burst of popularity would cause friction or make it tough for them to remain the sonic youth we know and love?
