I have a B&W laserprinter now so I will start doing a diy paperzine focused on all kinds of experimental/alternative music, movies, reviews, scene-reports, art, poetry, random crap and etc..
I need some ideas and thoughts.. I might also need some help to fill up the zine, maybe something you've written or painted/made ? I still have no name for it, but I'll work on that. Any thoughts, ideas? |

Get as many people to contribute as possible, because it's guaranteed that most of them won't get around to doing anything. Make a decision on the your opinion on amateurism and stick with it. Try not to get bored with it (because it's the most boring thing in the world to do).

I mean it's a lot of hard work and not much (material) gain. Best of luck with it.

I agree with Glice. It can very quickly become a chore. It's also very difficult getting people interested in a zine unless you have an *ahem* USP.
I would guess it would be doubly difficult than it was when zines were at their peak in terms of popularity and quantity (80s and early 90s) because so much is available online these days. My handy hint would be to try to think of a unique "angle" and be prepared for a lot of work. Maybe think that you're just doing it as a vanity project and if anybody else likes it see that as a bonus. |

thoughts/ideas:
once you finish putting it together scan it and post it as a pdf online. you can get a free blogger account and post them there. publishing an actual paper object is a nice experience though. |

Haha, I've done a punkzine a few years back, I know exacly how much work it is, and I was thinking this to be a thing I won't put down too much time on.
Basically when I'm inspired I'm gonna work with it. I wont do any blog. I will do this small limited zine and trade/give em away in the beginning..I'll see what happens. |

Hey, I'm doing something pretty similar. I'm self releasing about 20 copies of an album I'm making on cassette, and putting it with a booklet of writings and stuff. I'd like to contribute to whatever you're doing, so just let me know if you're interested.

I've got a few independent artists to contribute with some art for the zine.
As soon as I have enough material I'll begin the printing. Gonna start some of the cut'n'paste-job next week. |

UPDATE: I've got a few artists and some pretty decent stuff that will be in the zine including some art i've done myself.
I'll start printing as soon as I've got all art from the people who've agreed to participate..some of em are sloow. |
