A friend from Chicago just sent me these. From '92. Not really all that interesting, but figured a few of you might enjoy 'em. Peace (Attack) etc.

I love that first one. It reminds me of the shit writing you get in my local rag. Makes me want to watch the film again though.

Yeah, whoever wrote the first article definitely is not in tune w/ punk rock aesthetic. Still, interesting because it's old.

Uhhhhh... CIS, BMR, EVOL, Sister, and Daydream "failed to justify what all the fuss was about?" Really? I wish I had known that fifteen years ago. Why didn't someone tell me sooner? Here I've been thinking that they are some of the best musical documents ever put to tape. What an idiot I've been.
I've always been totally unimpressed by "Punk Broke," but that first article is just too much. That's pretty snobby writing for an article debasing snobbery. And comparing it to Don't Look Back is just ridiculous; as though DLB is the only tour doc. the guy's seen. I'll bet this same writer gives gives the reissue four stars. (and how can you review that movie without mentioning the "Freak Scene" performance?) |

Punk Broke is great because it shows the true monotony and goffyness of people in bands. so many concert movies show the band as some sort of super intense, focused on the show, rock "gods" type act and I hate that shit. Punk Broke showed the lie that was much of Rock N Roll in 1990 what with the metal and the horrible pussy rock. yadda yadda
