Now Abrams just needs to steal "Battlestar Galactica" away from Bryan Singer and then he can say "I own outer space bitch!"

Don't have to worry about him taking Babylon 5 though, no one seems to care about that one, uh, except me.

I don't think he could do more damage than Lucas did - but it will be dumbed down so Hollywood elites can understand it - its gonna suck but will look flashy.
Will he obsess over robot sexuality? How will he work boobs into the plotlines? How many times will he use alien sex as a theme? its gonna suck |

star wars is a kids flick anyway. how much more can he dumb it down than it already was?
The faux-spirituality was ruined by Lucas already. The Muppets were ruined by the CGI. watching the movies now is so boring, even the old ones....

This. If the Star Wars franchise was Lucas' baby, it should've been taken from him years ago, for abuse. |

I have no doubts that it will be better than the swill Lucad has tried to push, but as a Wars proponent in many a superiority fight against Trek, I can't help but feeling as if my life is being homogenized.

If I were JJ, R2D2 would be played by Stephen Hawking, and the Cardassians by the Kardashians.
Make it so be with you. |

i like star trek better, always have, always will, but i haven't always liked jj abrams-- i was bored by alias, found lost unwatchable, and am glad his annoying alcatraz was cancelled. however-- i really think he did an excellent job with the star trek reboot.
im down with the kardashians as evil aliens |

hm, abrams is a hack but, as pretty much everyone has agreed upon, lucas not having control is a great thing. i'll go see the first movie for sure just to find out if it's as bad as the sequels, because maybe it will be better. as a fanboy i see it as my duty.

They should just go all out and give it to someone completely unsuitable: Abel Ferrara, Woody Allen, Lars Von Trier, Spike Lee. It'll be shit anyway so they may as well let the whole thing go down in a blaze of inappropriateness.
